"mia wasn't his only little spy" siobhan states.

weeks go by, marjorie can't seem to get it out of her head. she is constantly overthinking about the situation. who else could possibly be spying on them all? the question repeats in her head, she spends every waking second with a pit in her stomach.

it hasn't been unnoticed how off marjorie had been acting. everybody could see the woman's tired eyes and restless behaviour, they could only wonder what was happening in that little mind of hers. but oh it was so much worse than they could have thought, the woman was going mad.

she couldn't have a normal conversation with anyone in the nursery, how could she? what if they were only there to watch her every move, listen to every conversation, the thought made her sick.
her relationship was falling apart during all of this, as much as he loved his lady, reece could not hold his front up any longer. they would argue and scream at each other because they couldn't even communicate, sometimes the anger and frustration would get to him so much that he would throw things, smash things. he knew he was just like his father.

marjorie couldn't give two shits about reece's behaviour, she would never blame him. it was just the fact she knew that someone she trusts is going against her and there is nothing she can do but be silent, silent forever.

everyone else on the other hand, behaved perfectly fine, nobody knew what was going on. everything was so peaceful as if nothing was happening right in front of their eyes. days would go by normally, the average small conversation and smiles would fill the rooms. they all had somebody to go home to,
everyone had someone to talk to.

but even though everyone else was fine, it was obvious marjorie was at her breaking point. the cheerful and supportive woman was gone, replaced with a distant and respectful person none of them recognised. reece was distant too, he wouldn't hold eye contact with anyone for too long, and couldn't have a meaningful conversation with anyone, it was all small talk now.

people wondered and people talked.

"i heard reece and marjorie have broken up"
"just look at her!"
"maybe she's pregnant!"
"i heard somebody died"
"secret divorce?"
"ooh maybe she cheated on him??"
"apparently there's another woman"

but it reality there was no other woman, or death or pregnancy. there was just a couple who didn't know how to communicate. a woman who has thoughts she will never share eating away at her, and a man who loved his lady so much, the secret keeping and her distance has put him into depression.

they knew they could fix it, she knew she could fix it.

"reece there's another spy at the nursery"
she looks him dead in the eye.

roger had a long day in head office filing and sorting out business deals, he never usually worked and would leave it all to siobhan, but that day there were so many things to handle that he couldn't leave it all to her.

as he drove home with siobhan in the seat next to her, he notices her giggling at her phone.

"something funny?"

"o-oh uhm no no" she says, almost dropping her phone.

he shrugs it off, he isn't bothered with anything for the rest of the day.

they walk into the house and roger asks siobhan to make dinner, by ask i mean demand, and she does so without putting up a fight. siobhan was always a feisty woman, roger took that and any other strength she had.

she never really quite knew what to feel anymore. she was in an unhappy and controlling relationship, but she knew others had it worse. after all she was spoilt, she lived in a big house and had a nice car, and a secure job, being hit and screamed at wasn't even that bad compared to what he offered her, he always made sure to remind her of that. he made her believe that she was blessed, and that the bruises she had to cover up were only reminders for her to remember he could take it all away within seconds.

roger didn't say anything while they ate dinner, it unsettled siobhan as he would always either complain or yell.

after he finishes stands up and walks to the door before turning back to face her.

"i'll be back in an hour or so, i need to attend an important meeting. stay in the house and don't do anything stupid or else you will pay for it when i get back. understood?"

the woman nods at him and he takes this as a sign to leave. he drives off and hums to himself until he reaches a small house on a hill. he knocks gently and waits at the door.

"come in" he hears coming from the inside,

he lets himself in and sits himself down on the couch, he knew his way around with ease, one of the benefits of their weekly meetings. he hears footsteps coming towards him, it was about time.

he only sees his little spy once a week, but with a few added phone calls it's more than enough to know what is going on in everyone's lives, almost as if he was even in their little circle.

he looks at the woman in the doorway and grins as she sits down on the chair in front of him.

"hello charlotte"
