In the darkness, shadows whisper secrets untold,
A step into the void, where fear takes hold. The next morning in London was typical—overcast and cool, with a hint of lingering fog. The city was slowly waking up, its streets still quiet as the first light of day filtered through the clouds. Hrithik drove through the familiar roads, his mind heavy with the upcoming encounter. The conversation from the previous day had left a bitter taste, one that refused to go away no matter how hard he tried to focus on the task at hand.
Cambridge loomed ahead, the university’s old buildings casting long shadows over the campus. The place held a sense of gravity, a weight of history and significance that was impossible to ignore. Hrithik pulled into the parking lot, cut the engine, and sat for a moment, gathering his thoughts. Today wasn’t just about meeting an adversary—it was about navigating a complex web of power and deception.
He stepped out of the car, the crisp morning air biting at his skin. His footsteps echoed in the stillness as he walked towards the park, a place where countless confrontations had taken place over the years. The path was lined with damp leaves, remnants of last night’s rain, and the distant sound of students preparing for the day’s classes created a backdrop of normalcy that felt out of place.
And then he saw him. Henry Winchester was sitting on a stone bench, a book resting on his knee. He looked up as Hrithik approached, closing the book with a soft click and setting it aside. There was a stillness to him, a calm that contrasted sharply with the tension in the air.
Hrithik moved closer, feeling the charged atmosphere between them. It wasn’t fear or anger—it was the cold, calculating awareness of two men who knew they were walking a razor’s edge.
“Long time no see,” Henry said, his voice measured. He extended a hand, the gesture formal, almost businesslike.
Hrithik took it, the handshake brief. “Henry.”
“Have a seat,” Henry offered, gesturing to the spot beside him.
Hrithik sat down, his posture tense. He scanned the park, memories of their last encounter here flashing through his mind. The place had seen its share of conflicts, but this one felt different—more deliberate, more dangerous.
“We fought here once,” Henry remarked, his tone casual, as if commenting on the weather.
“Yeah,” Hrithik replied, his voice neutral. “And I won.”
Henry smiled slightly, though it didn’t reach his eyes. “Of course you did.”
The silence that followed was thick with unspoken intentions. Hrithik studied Henry, searching for any sign of what was to come. The man was as unreadable as ever, his expression betraying nothing.
“How’s Lizzie?” Hrithik asked, more out of obligation than genuine interest.
Henry’s expression softened slightly. “She’s fine. Keeps telling me to stop all this and go back home.”
