Desires stir in the silence, raw and relentless,
Each touch a claim, marking what was once hidden.

Deepika stared into her glass, the world around her a blur as her thoughts spiraled. The attack had rattled her more than she wanted to admit. She had spent days coordinating the defense of the mansion, preparing for a war they could barely see coming. It was all too much—too much uncertainty, too much fear. She downed the drink in one gulp, feeling the burn in her throat, but it did little to numb the chaos in her mind.

Out of the corner of her eye, she spotted a man leaning against the bar. He was tall, with a muscular build and a confident, easy demeanor. The kind of guy who didn’t have to try to draw attention.

For a moment, the idea of losing herself in someone, even if just for a night, seemed appealing. She eyed him, her gaze trailing over his broad shoulders, the way his shirt clung to his chest. She grabbed her glass, now refilled, and stood, ready to get wasted and forget everything.

But as she took a step forward, something else caught her attention. She stopped, her heart sinking as her eyes landed on a familiar figure in the corner. Sid was sitting on one of the couches, a drink in his hand, staring off into space.

“Not again,” she muttered to herself, frustration mingling with guilt. She had been about to make a decision she knew she’d regret. She sighed deeply, her shoulders slumping. "What am I doing?" she whispered under her breath.

Turning away from the stranger at the bar, Deepika walked toward Sid. She hesitated for a moment before sitting down next to him. Sid glanced at her, his expression shifting from indifference to mild surprise.

"Oh, it's you," he said, blinking as if shaking off a thought. "I thought it was someone else."

Deepika raised an eyebrow. "Someone who?"

Sid tilted his head slightly, gesturing toward a woman sitting at the other end of the bar. She was stunning, with sleek hair and a body that turned heads. "Her," Sid said, his voice low. "She’s hot, right? Way hotter than Kiara."

Deepika narrowed her eyes slightly, catching the underlying bitterness in his tone. "So, that's what this is about."

Sid turned to her, his brow furrowed in confusion. "It was... Then I thought, why? That's why I’m sitting here alone." He swirled the drink in his hand, staring at the amber liquid as if it held the answers he was looking for.

Deepika watched him, the tension between them almost tangible. “Do you want me to leave you alone?”

Sid looked up at her, his gaze softening. "Do you wanna?"

Deepika shook her head slightly and leaned back onto the couch, the leather cool against her skin. They sat in silence for a moment before Sid broke it. “You look tense, Deepika. What’s up with you?”
