"You Have To Come With Me, Arawn! Youcantakethetest! You..you can-save-her!" Denara finally reaches me and she's talking like a crazy person. She's babbling and stumbling over her words. She grabs onto the sleeve of my shirt and starts dragging me towards the entrance. Her eyes are wide and the tears are now dried up and have left red marks on her face. The last part of her statement is mumbled, and I can't make out a word that she's trying to say.
"Breathe. Okay, breathe. Is Rhys okay? Did something happen?" I ask in a quick breath. Her tears start streaming down her face again. Danny and a doctor were not far behind. My heart drops to my stomach, but at the same time, I know that there's a possibility that it's not true. My eyes immediately move to Danny and you can see that he would rather be anywhere but here. He's the only one that can give me answers.
"Danny, what the hell is going on?" I demand.
"Arawn..." He gulps, and there's a sense of awkwardness and hesitance in his tone. He quickly gets over it and puts on a face with no emotional persona visible on his face. He speaks with clarity and a certain stern voice, with no room for discussion.
"You probably have a ton of questions right now, but we don't have time for that. Rhys is in desperate need of a transfusion, and you're the only one with the same blood type as her. Mason is our normal donor or one of Lucas, but we didn't have time to inform them, and by the time they do get here, it will be too late. "He pauses before looking me directly in the eye and I can hear the pleading in his voice.
"Please save our baby girl. We can answer whatever questions you have later and pay you whatever the hell you want! Just please..." He breaks off his statement. His implied statement has my world feeling shattered, even though what he said wasn't direct. There was a certain numbness and my unknown questions were answered. I don't react immediately but give him a curt nod. This is probably the only time Danny and I would have an understanding. Denara moves away from us and looks away from me when I turn to her, and I can't help but scoff.
A few hours go by. I see Denara in the waiting room from my room window, nibbling at her bottom lips and sometimes switching between her thumbnails. She's pacing the room and slightly fidgety. Danny is sitting in the corner of the room. Head in his hand. When the doctor came to us outside with Danny in tow earlier, I wasn't sure of what to expect, especially because anything Denara uttered didn't make sense. His pleading to do the transfusion test, because their donor is late, is not what I expected.
Sitting in that patient room for the past two hours and pondering over why, how, and what the actual fuck?! In my mind. Part of me knows why, another part is confused and numb. To top it all up, I'm burning with questions that I'm in denial of the answers in front of me. Letting out a sigh of frustration because yelling would not be permitted unless I wanted to be in a crazy ward.
I was blind even when the truth was staring me down and right in the face. I was the only one that wanted it to be opaque instead of transparent. Every piece of my body feels numb and although nothing is confirmed. The matter speaks for itself. The room is spinning, and I feel like I'm going to throw up. That's from the blood loss and stress. I asked the nurse who assisted during the transplant if she could please bring them in. I can see the hesitancy on her face, but she doesn't say anything.
Every ounce of my body felt weak, and tired, and took a little energy to lift. Somehow, I have enough energy to confront the situation. No more hiding and secrets. Denara comes in alone. A hesitant smile on her face for a brief moment when she meets my eyes before she looks away and around the room.
"Hey, How—"
"I need to hear it from you. No more lies and deceit." I breathe out and cut through whatever crap of pleasantries. I need answers, "I fucking know, Lord, I know, but I need to hear it from you."
