Inko Midoriya felt herself get grabbed by her youngest son as she finished cleaning the plates from dinner. She smiled as she followed her son, who began to search for his older brother.
Izuku: Y/N! Come on! It's computer time!
Y/N: Coming! I'm finishing up!
The bathroom door opened as five year old Y/N Midoriya made his way to the room, seeing his brother shaking in excitement as he waited for him. He smiled as he got up the chair and next to Izuku.
Y/N: I'm here!
Their mother began to put on the video as she spoke. Both
Inko: You two must have put 10,000 views on this one alone. I don't know how you boys can watch this. I think it's pretty scary.
Y/N: Guess it's a step to show that Izuku could be a hero.
Izuku got closer to watching the video, excited out of his mind. Y/N smiled at his brother, and paid attention to the screen. The video showed a disaster that happened years ago. Apparently, a explosion happened, collapsing a building or something. And stepping out of the flaming rubble with some unconscious civilians over his shoulder was the number one hero, All Might. The brothers stared in excitement as All Might laughed after reassuring the safety of the citizens. Izuku raised his toy of All Might into the air, pumped up.
Izuku: He's the coolest in the universe! When I get my quirk, I'm going to be a hero, just like him!
Y/N smiled as his brother mimicked All Might's laugh. But inside, he was frowning.
Y/N: (thoughts) I really hope you do, Izuku. I may not have a quirk, but maybe you do. And from there on, I will be supporting you all the way to the end.
Later...
Doctor: Sorry kid, it's not gonna happen.
Izuku was frozen as Y/N could only yell out in disbelief.
Y/N: What!? You're joking!
Inko: Y/N...
Y/N ignored his mother as he got closer to the doctor, attempting to get answers.
Y/N: You have to be wrong! Check again! Izuku's got to have a quirk! He has to!
Doctor: I'm sorry, but your brother is quirkless. See...
The doctor explained everything to his mother, but Y/N could only stare at Izuku, knowing that what he got told hurt him. His eyes began to fill with tears at the sight. Izuku had a hard time enough in their class, with his 'friend' Bakugo mostly making fun of him. But this news would just make things worse.
Y/N: (thoughts) No...he can't be quirkless. He just can't be. I'm supposed to be the only one.
Later that day, Izuku was watching the video of All Might in the computer. Inko and Y/N watched from the door as he had his back to him.
Izuku: See that, mom?
Izuku turned around to face them, tears in his eyes as he pointed at the screen.
Izuku: There's always a smile on his face. No matter how bad things get.
Y/N felt tears in his eyes, the sight tearing his heart.
Izuku: Even when things seemed impossible, he never gives up.
