" her health is better now, but if she wasn't treated instantly things could got worse." The doctor was still saying and the room was filled with silence.
" thank you. When will she regain consciousness?"The silence was broken by Umer, who came a few minutes ago.
" she is still under the effects of medicines. Don't worry she will wake up soon. But, I must say that this type of carelessness should be avoided, it could be risky for her health." The doctor was now saying this to everyone present there, her voice had a hint of warning.
Umer listened to her, he glanced at his mother who was lying down peacefully with her eyes closed. But his mind was stuck on one word." what kind of carelessness? I couldn't understand." Umer asked her.
" Look, your mother's health would not have gotten worse just be her illness, if she didn't have took expired medicines. Please avoid these type of carelessness." The doctor again instructed, calmly.
But her one sentence was enough to shock everyone present there.
" what do you mean? My daughter in law's health cannot get worse like this. Why would she take expired medicines." This time the question was asked by grandmother.
" I don't know that, maybe she took those medicines absentmindedly. But this could only worse her condition or make more complications. If it wasn't treated as soon as possible." The doctor answered again.
" thank you doctor. We will take care from now on." Umer ended the topic.
The doctor smiled and nodded. She picked her things and stood up. " okay then. I hope this will never happen again. Goodbye Mr. Yazdaan." The doctor said, and leaved the room. Areej went after her.
After the doctor left, Mehr sat down next to Hajra. She was the most worried in this whole situation.
But in all this, there was only Noor, who was the most quiet. Standing in a corner like a stranger. She was looking at them, her mind was also stuck on doctor's words.Umer was also silent. He glanced at his mother and gently put his hand on hers. " Dadi, Mehr we should leave mom alone so she can rest." He said in a low voice.
" you are right, we should go. Mehr, child, your mother will get better. Don't worry, come on." She said with a loving tone and pat her head. Mehr nodded and stood up.
Now, only Umer and Noor was left. Alone. Noor still couldn't get the courage to go towards Hajra in his presence. He was sitting beside his mother holding her hand in his. He was quiet, he didn't told her to go out nor did he said anything to her. Like she wasn't there.
Umer bend down and kissed his mother's forehead gently, not wanting to wake her up. He looks at her one last time and then stands up, walking outside the room.
After everyone left. Noor go towards the bed with small steps, she sat down and looked at her aunt.
" I don't have anyone except you. Please don't leave me. I will be left alone, I...I don't want to lose my mother again." Her voice was merely above a whisper.Today Noor was really afraid. It was not the first time Hajra's condition got worse but she wasn't so scared back then maybe she didn't have enough awareness. But today she was afraid, afraid of losing a mother again. Because this time she had no one to come and care for her.
She sat there, for a few minutes before standing up and gently pulling the blanket on Hajra. She went outside and closed the door behind her.
