Deep in Mount Kumotori, two men preform a traditional ritual in a snowy cold night being watched by their sons Tanjiro Kamado and Muichiro Tokito, and a woman with a noticeably light complexion, kind, dark purple eyes that appear a lighter color around the rims of their irises, and a small beauty mark located on the left of her face below her lower lip. She had black hair, worn tied back in a messy bun with a few loose strands left to dangle over her face. She wore a purple and cream checkered kimono with a white and long-sleeved kappogi over the top, she also sported a white tenugui cloth that she wears around her head, covering most of her hair. This was one of the man's wife Kie.

And the other women had black hair and blue eyes, this was the other man's wife, Yuiko

Tanjiro and Muichiro watch in awe at their father's dance.

Kie: Do you see, Tanjiro, Muichiro? You both are witnessing your father's Kagura dances. They're dancing with the flames and darkness.

Yuiko: So, to avoid catastrophe and injury, we offer to dance to "the god of fire" and "the god of the shadows" at the beginning of every year and pray to him. Someday, you two will have to carry on the tradition.

The following morning, Tanjiro and Muichrio were spending time with Tanjuro and Junichiro and wondering about the dance they watched before.

Tanjiro: Father, how is it that you an Uncle Junichiro can dance in the snow like that with such frail bodies?

Muichiro: If me and Tanjiro did it our lungs would be frozen.

Junichiro: There is a certain way you should breathe. A way where you won't get tired no matter how much you move.

They then pat their sons head and reaches for a locked box and key.

Tanjuro: If you can perform the correct way to breathe, then you can dance forever Tanjiro, Muichiro. You both can even endure the freezing cold.

He unlocks the box and pulls out a book.

Tanjiro: What is that?

Tanjuro: It's a journal from so long ago. Before you two were even born, it was given to us by a man with hair that looked like flames.

They open the book, and Tanjiro and Muichiro were amazed at the techniques.

Junichiro: Tanjiro, Muichiro when out time comes, you two will start to train yourselves to master the way of the sword and the breathing style. All you need is the dance and these earrings. Take these teaching from me and do not falter. It's a promise.

Tanjiro and Muichiro nod their heads with some tears in their eyes.

Tanjiro: We promise father.

Tanjuro: We couldn't be prouder of you boys.

He and Junichiro hugs their son for a few moments.

Junichiro: Now go help your mother's finish the chores.

Tanjiro and Muichiro run to their mother and siblings to help, with Tanjuro and Yuiko looking at the sky.

Tanjuro: If you can protect your family.

Junichiro: Then you can face any challenge ahead of you two.

As time passes by, Tanjuro and Junichiro, leaving Tanjiro as the man of the house. He and Muichiro starts to learn about being a swordsman, and the Hinokami and Tsukikami Kagura techniques. They soon kept a daily routine. Morning training, play time with siblings, selling wood, and night training. They continue the routine unaware of the possible danger that is coming.
