Harry’s Point of View:

At the sound of the click, I loudly groaned and threw my phone across the room. For once, in a long time, I was actually worried. How could she be so careless and reckless? More importantly, why didn’t she want my help? I’ve been telling her time and time again, that I would be there for her if she needed it and now – she didn’t even want me to be there. Thing was; I didn’t care. I didn’t care if she didn’t want me to help her out because I was going to do it anyway. Slightly running out of the bathroom, I rushed towards my room and pushed the door open. I had almost forgotten that Madisen was snoozing in the room, so when the door hit the back of the room, the startled girl awoke. “H-harry?” she groaned, only half conscious. With a sigh, I quickly walked past her, grabbed my coat and keys, and then took an extra blanket from my closet. She sat up on the bed and wore a look of confusion. “What are you doing?”

“Never mind that,” having no time to talk, I said. When I gathered my things, I was about to go but she reached for my arm. “What’s going on? Where are you going?” I was growing more and more aggravated with her words. It was none of her business where I was going. I knew it wasn’t all of her fault, but she practically invited herself over and I just couldn’t deal with her right now. There was someone else – someone I really cared about in danger and I needed to get to her fast. “You have to leave.” Was all I said, but her eyes widened in complete shock. “What?” Nastily, she asked me. “I said – leave.” This time, my words were harsh and defiant. I was not in the mood for playing or teasing and I wanted her to know that. When I talked, I was being serious, and I saw the fear in her eyes. “But H-Harry…”

Annoyed, I shook my head as my curls flopped from side to side. “No.”

“No?!” She examined, anger running in her bones. “What we do – it’s not what you think. We aren’t going to be anything other than what we are now.” These thoughts have been mine for a while now. Sure, I was attracted to her, but not in that way. I felt as though that feeling was only meant for Jaycee. My head bowed down and I let out another sigh. I wasn’t really focused on what was going on here; I was thinking about where I could find her at. Jaycee wasn’t that much of an ‘outgoing’ type, and she never told me about any of her friends except Annie, but I didn’t know where she lived. I also figured that she wouldn’t go there anyway; she was smarter than that. Then, that’s when it hit me – she probably went to the park.

“I’ve got to go.” I rushed out of the bedroom, slamming the door behind. I could hear Madisen calling me from the inside, but I ignored her pleads and rushed down my staircase and out the door. It was dark, and incredibly freezing. I didn’t even want to think about how Jay must have been feeling at this moment. Her small, fragile body  frozen somewhere and I didn’t even know where. Luckily, my dad was out but kept the car parked outside. When I reached it, I frantically shoved the car key into the door and pulled it open then hopped in. Since it was so late, there were no cops outside to see me speeding down the streets. They would really care anyway; this neighborhood was garbage and they never cared about it before. As I drove, I kept my eyes alert and focused. However, when my phone rang, my eyes quickly scanned to see who was calling me, hoping it was Jaycee. Since I was driving, I couldn’t pay attention so I just answered it. “Jay?!” I panicked in the phone and all I heard was a raspy man’s laughter. “Nah, man – who the hell is Jay?” I let out a loud groan.

“Damn it Zayn! I can’t talk right now,” I shouted and slammed on the gas as I cruised down the blocks towards the park. “What’s got you in a rut, mate?” he asked, casually. I could tell from the tone of his voice that he was either high or intoxicated. “Nothing. Goodbye Zayn.”

Speeding down the streets a bit faster, I finally found myself at the park. Practically jumping out of the car, I ran past the gate and onto the dark wood chips of the park’s ground. It was completely vacant – not a single soul here. All that was heard was the loud clamoring noise of the swings being blown by the harsh winds. She wasn’t here, but I couldn’t give up. Maybe she was hiding somewhere around. With that, I ran everywhere. I looked in all of the hidden places for the girl, but she was nowhere to be found. “Jaycee!” I desperately called out, my throat throbbing in pain from the ice cold air. All I heard in return was the sounds of my own deep echoes in the sky. “Jay!!” Again, I shouted and yet again – dead silence. I could feel my heart racing and the desperation in my system. I looked around aimlessly, praying that maybe she’d just pop up behind me, or that I’d find her waiting for me. But no – that’s not what I found at all. What I found was dead air.
