Y/N POV

Seeing Melanie's smile made me happy. I glanced at her, my expression softening.
"Yeah.." I muttered under my breath.
We got a table and ordered. There was an akward silence and tension filling the air, I wanted to start a conversation to clear the awkwardness but I couldn't think of anything.
"So, about Tiffany and Michael.." I spoke up. Melanie glared at me, an unreadable uncomfortable expression. It took me a moment to finish my sentence.
"..You don't actually.. like Michael right..?" Melanie spoke up before me.
"Oh, no. Obviously not I just thought that we should try to avoid them more often.. i don't want situations happening where the point I can't even get into colleges and them ruining my reputation.." I scoffed in the thought of that.
"You're right." Melanie admitted.
I smiled, I wanted to randomly blurt out stuff that catches my eye so that akward silence wouldn't come back, but I guess there was nothing intresting until the server came up with our cookies. I knew Melanie loved chocolate so I let her have majority of them, even though I do as well. We ended up finishing our cookies at the booth, they were in these cute baby blue boxes with a white ribbion tied separately on each singular box.
"You ready?" I asked.
"Yeah."
I held her hand and helped her up, I got nervous and didn't think what to do. I didn't know whether I should let go of her hand once she got up but we just stayed there with our fingers intertwined. We walked through the empty streets. I looked at the pretty view with all the lights decorated around the city. The silence was back, but it was different. It wasn't so awkward anymore, I caressed the back of her hand with my thumb as we walked. We eventually reached our destination as we walked in. She let go of my hand, it made me feel a bit sad but I thought not to overthink it. We had made our way upstairs, her parents laying in their room. I sat on the bed and took my shoes off placing them by the nightstand, I thought to say something random to start a conversation.
"..ready for bed?.." I asked her.
"Yeah.."
I smiled softly and layed down staring at the ceiling for a bit, mel did the same. Warmth spread through my body as she had grabbed my hand again and turned to me smiling, I was anxious to even say anything. I turned to her and smiled before closing my eyes. It took me a bit to fall asleep, but not that long for Mel to fall asleep. I went to the bathroom and brushed my teeth sitting on the counter lost in my thoughts.
"..Y/N?.." Melanie called out.
I didn't respond, I just walked out the bathroom to show her I was brushing my teeth and couldn't speak. She nodded and turned to her side, she looked a bit bummed out. I layed back down and woke up to a loud ass alarm.
"What the fuck?" I said groaning as I sat up on my elbows. Melanie wasn't there to be found, I frowned sleepily stuffing my face in the pillow. I rubbed my eyes and tossed and turned. I was way to sleepy to even process or put together the four brain cells that she isn't there. I guess I was too tired to even think about it or acknowledge it, but I fell asleep for 3 more hours til I woke up again, this time more energetic and ready to start the day. I finally processed that she was no where to be found, I didn't want to wake her parents up so I closed their door slightly, leaving a small space. I looked downstairs but decided not to look in the laundry room, first off I was scared and second off why? Why would she even be in there. Especially for that long? I ran upstairs after I turned off the lights like a little child scared of the 'dark' truth was, I was scared. I was in a horrifying basement alone with someone else's parents, and lord knows what they even do down here. I got upstairs panting heavily trying to calm myself down, I was determined to not wake her parents up. I walked up to the upstairs passing the main floor, I texted her while walking to the bathroom to grab my tooth brush and hair brush.

"Mel, where are you?" — Y/N

"I got a job at the bakery." — Melanie

"How come you didn't wake me up?" — Y/N

"I'm sorry, I didn't know if you'd want me waking you up." — Melanie

"You're fine, when are you coming back?" — Y/N

"I'll be there in an hour." — Melanie

"Okayy, I'll you then?" — Y/N

"Yupp." — Melanie

"Byeeeeee.." — Y/N

"Bye!" — Melanie

At least she's safe, I thought to myself. I tried my best to take a nap to let the hour pass by quickly, but it was impossible for me. The hour passed by, it was an extra 30 minutes til she actually arrived, every second felt like an hour. As soon as the door clicked open from the middle floor I rushed out, her parents in bed watching television didn't even glance at me nor look. I didn't even notice they were up yet, I rushed and saw her taking her hat off and smile warmly. I hugged her tightly.
"I missed you." She said muffled in my shoulder.
"I missed you too." I giggled.
"Any plans today?" I questioned.
"Probably not.. it's gonna be boring."
I smiled, but yawned at even the thought of that. I felt energetic, but obviously I was gonna just lay in bed all day and watch movies with her, I thought. I smiled at the thought of that as we sped upstairs laying back down, like I've been doing for hours. It may be boring, but with her it makes it fun.

I decided I'll continue the book! Judging off how I have literally all the chapters picked out with names💓
