MELANIE'S POV
(Writing this on a car ride lol)

"Wanna know what'll make us feel better?" I said.
"Hm, what?" Y/N asked.
"Smoooothiess" I said in a enthusiastic tone.
I saw y/n smile, her smile always warmed up my heart.
"Need help?" Y/n asked. I started smiling, atleast I know she cares.
"No, I'll let you know if I do, okay?"
"Mkay, I'm gonna work on blocking them. But I won't be surprised if they call me on no caller ID.
I giggled at the thought of it.
"I'll be back." I said as I walked out the bathroom, every step I took made me tired. I really wanted to just sleep, but I wanted to make y/n feel better.
I took out the blender and cleaned it out, from the corner of my eye I seen y/n walk ?into the living room and sit down. After I     the blender, I started to prepare kk the smoothies for us.
"They're done." I said.
I felt arms wrap around my waist, I turned and it was y/n.
"Thank you, mel." She said.
I knew she might've meant it in a "friendly" way. But I couldn't help my self from blushing, I'm not gonna lie, I did want to kiss her right then and there.
"No pro-blem." I slurred my words, i sounded like I was drunk. I handed her the smoothie, she took my hand and ran upstairs.
"What are y-"
"Melanie, I didn't have enough courage to say this bu-" my door slammed wide open, it was my mom. She wasn't supposed to be here til 2 weeks? But where's my dad. What was y/n even sayi-
"Who's this who-re?!" She slurred her words.
I didn't have an explanation, but it did make me livid she's calling her a whore.
"Please stop, this is my friend. Y/n." I tried not to make my mom angry, I turned to y/n who looked terrified. My mom walked in and swayed her hips as if she didn't know how to walk, she picked up a glass of lemonade, tasted it then walked out.
I turned to y/n who just looked right back at me confused.
"It's no-thing new." I took a pause in the middle of the sentence.
"Don't worry, I go through the same thing." I saw her smile, it made me feel better. At least I'm not alone in these types of situations. I felt my eyes burning up as I heard the front door slam. Did she just come to antagonize me? That's not mature especially for someone who's her age.
"Well, what are we gonna do now?" I asked y/n.
"Maybe we can sneak out." She laughs.
"Would that be a smart idea?"
"No, but it'd be fun, Melanie."
"It's not really sneaking out if she's already gone."
"True."
"Wanna go to the bakery?" Y/n asked me.
"Sure, why not."
I slowly got up, I started getting cramps in my shoulders.
"You okay?" I heard y/n call from my bathroom.
"Yeah, jm okay." I told her.

Y/N POV

I finished getting ready, all I did is really just put on some mascara and lip balm. It's all I really packed, and all we're doing is going to a bakery.
I loooked over at Melanie, she was just sitting on the bed looking at me, it was cute.
"Alright, ready mel?" I ask.
"Yeah, let's go." She says softly.
I helped her up slowly, I was trying to be careful.
She got up, and gripped my shoulders for support.
I felt her jump on my back I didn't really mind though.
"This okay?" She asked.
"Yep." I grunted still trying to catch my breath.
"Now we ready?" I asked.
"Yep!"
I creeped down the hallways, I obviously was aware Melanie's mom was gone by now, but she was passed out in her car. The dad was in the backseats, and I thought I saw him awake. But I was wrong. I wanted to ignore it, but I kept eyeing that car, I wanted to be quiet but at the same time we're outside, it's gonna be loud. And us being quiet won't change anything, we eventually made it around the corner of the bakery and I slowly helped her down as we walked down the sidewalk, I wanted to walk slow to enjoy the glistening sunset, she turned her head to me and smiled. I felt butterflies in my stomach, that feeling after making eye contact with one you love. She started swaying our intertwined hands in the air, it was cute honestly. There was a silence, not much of an awkward silence, though.
"Thanks, for always.." there was a pause between her sentence, she cleared her throat as I just looked up at her.
"For always comforting me." She started again, my lips curled up into a smile. I didn't even notice I was smiling.
"Anytime mel." I kept the eye contact with her. I didn't know if she actually wanted me back, so I've just been hiding my feelings for quite some time. We broke eye contact, and there it was. That silence again, I couldn't describe what the silence felt like. We were at least a yard away from the bakery, but I turned to see a gas station, I was thirsty for any drink really, and I didn't know if a bakery would sell water or sodas.
"Can we stop by here first, please?" I asked Melanie.
"Sure, what are we getting?" She questioned.
"Probably just a drink, I wasn't so sure if a bakery would have any. Is that okay?"
"Yeah, of course." She nodded and pulled me into the gas station. We walked through the aisles searching for the fridges that held the drinks. I grabbed a random water, I didn't mind the brand I was just thirsty as hell.
"You want anything?" I asked her.
"It's fine, I'm not that thirsty anyways."
I nodded, I wouldn't mind to share if she got thirsty anyways.
We walked towards the bakery and opened the doors.
"Awh, it's decorated cute!" Melanie said in a soft whisper.
