As Sage drives me to her house, I can't help but feel a mix of emotions. I'm grateful for her help, but nervous about facing her brother again, that will be the last thing i want to add in my day. How did I end up in this situation? Ugh,.As i keep saying, My life is just a mess.
Sage notices my unease and tries to reassure me. "Hey, don't worry, Amara. Everything is set. I've already arranged your room and told my family about you staying with us. They're cool with it."
Cool with it? Yeah, right. As if they know I'm a Russian mafia heir hiding from so called enemies of my family. This is a recipe for disaster.
But I try to play it cool, not wanting to worry her "Thanks, Sage. I really appreciate it. But I just hope your brother doesn't mind me crashing, What if he has a problem with me staying" I ask, my mind racing with worst-case scenarios.
Sage waves her hand dismissively
"Oh, don't worry, I haven't told him you're moving in. Firstly, he dont care and secondly he is barely home.. either he stays at his penthouse or keeps travelling god knows where"What the hell, she didn't told him? He's going to chew me alive.I shoot her a nervous glance. "Sage, that's not funny. What if he freaks out? You should have prepared him before."
She chuckles. "Then he'll just have to deal with it. Besides, my parents will back me up. They're the ones who own this house, not him."
I take a deep breath, trying to calm my nerves. As we pull up to Sage's house, I take a deep breath, preparing myself for whatever comes next. Little do I know, this is just the beginning of a wild ride.
As I enter the house with Sage, I notice the servants efficiently taking my luggage upstairs. But my attention is quickly diverted to the living room. And wow, just wow..there he was coming downstairs with his hand in his pockets, with a coat hanging on his shoulder,..exuding a foreboding aura as always.
I instinctively take a step back, hiding partially behind Sage as if she's a shield.
But to my luck, he's eyes met mine boring into my soul, making me feel like an insect under a microscope again. His gaze is unyielding, flashing with a mixture of anger and disdain. Oh great, because "I'm going to murder you with my eyes" is exactly the welcome I wanted. How thoughtful of him.The air around him appears to vibrate with tension, like the calm before a storm.
