Two week later

3. pov - Ran:

Ran had heard rumors about a girl running from gang to gang doing tasks for money. She was both feared and respected by the gangs in the area and that was what had caught his attention. He didn't know exactly where to look but had heard that she was last seen in the outer part of Roppongi. Small gangs had started to show up in Roppongi but he and Rindou hadn't had the time to eradicate them yet. Maybe he should take some of them out while he is here.

The sun was shining and the sky was almost clear as Ran walked humming for himself. He had hoped Rindou could go with him but he had other plans. Ran had only scoffed at that and then left their apartment.

An hour had passed since he got here and Ran had not seen anything mysterious nor less than a girl that looked like someone in the criminal world.

He stopped under a tree and leaned up against it. The streets were pretty empty and he had almost decided to go home when a girl with long brown hair rushed past him. Behind her followed a group of men and Ran's brows furrowed at the sight. Then a smile crept up his lips

Tanji's pov:

Why, why, WHY! Of all the days today was when I had to slip up. I curse as I run around a corner without caring for whoever could be on the other side. I start panting as my legs start to cramp. Shit. My thoughts are running in my head and I can't focus.

It was such an easy task. Rob a group of people from some belongings and dip out again. The area was filled with people so it would just be in and out. But no that was not how it went. I was lucky that the grab the man had around my hand was slack. After yanking my hand to myself I just started running. And of course they followed me.

I can hear them clearly behind me and I realize that they are gaining on me. The sleepless nights have been more frequent and I have started to get sloppy. Most of all I need a break but I'm out of money again. It's been a couple of weeks since I did that job for Potentia and I have used almost all of the reward. So this time I asked Black Dragon, a group from out of town. They had a job that seemed almost too good to be true. So I took it.

I slip in the next corner and only catch myself seconds before falling to the ground. The area I'm in is unfamiliar so I am running blind hoping to shake them off. But I am not that lucky. The next corner I run around turns out to be an ally and before I can run out again is the four men behind me.

"There you are bitch," says one of them with a wicked smile and steps closer. His fist is clenched and his eyes are burning. I swallow a lump and walk back slowly while looking around for an exit.

"Did you really think that you could run from us," says another one of them, something shining in the light. A knife. My eyes widen and fear crawls up my back. I know that I can't win this fight so I have to get away. Not even me is dumb enough to take my chances at fighting them.

"Let's teach her a lesson so she doesn't try to steal from guys like us again," says the first one. He starts moving closer way faster and is about to take the first swing at me when a hand grabs around his arm and yanks him back. He falls to the ground with a loud yelp and the others look confused at the newcomer.

"Has no one ever taught you not to hit girls?" His voice is soft and calm as he steps in front of me. My eyes widen even more and my fear takes new heights when I realize who stands before me.

Ran Haitani.
