My body is as stiff as a wall when my eyes drift from the four men to Ran Haitani who is standing in front of me. One of the men who runs Roppongi is standing right in front of me and I can feel how his attention is drifting from the men to me. His head turns and his eyes lock on mine. For a moment are we just standing there looking at each other. Then the man on the ground groan and Ran turn his attention towards them again.
They have gone significantly paler over the span of seconds but they are still not turning around.
"Stay out of this, Haitani." The man on the ground is on his way up holding his arm where he hit the ground. "She tried to steal from us so we have the right to show her what happens when she fails," he spits, which was a big mistake. I can't see the Haitani's face, but I see how he tilts his head lightly to the side before he lets a fist connect with the man's face. He now for the second time goes to the ground and this time he doesn't get back up. He has been knocked out cold.
"A scumbag like you should know that you can't speak to me like that. And that I look very much down on people who hit girls. Lucky for me though. I was itching to hit someone." He walks forward to the other men who are now backing away but before they can even get out of the alley has Ran pinned them up against the wall. He takes the three others down in a matter of seconds.
All I see are a few fist connections with skin and the weeping from the grown men. My body still won't move even though I know that I should run away right now. Ran Haitani is dangerous. There is a reason that I have stayed out of Roppongi. I would never be able to stand up against them and my only advantage is that I'm a girl. If what Ran says is true then I should be somehow safe. But he can still do a lot of things to hurt me that don't include hitting.
Ran Haitani now stands with four knock out guys around him and he doesn't even look like he has been in a fight. His clothes still sit nice and clean. Blood is only slightly grazing his knuckles. As he turns to look at me, I curl my fist and take a step farther into the alley. He sees it and smiles knowingly.
"You do know that you wouldn't stand a chance against me," he says playful and takes a step closer to me.
"Yes I'm aware of that," I say through gritted teeth not knowing what else to do.
"You don't have to be afraid I'm not gonna do anything to you." He keeps getting closer as he talks and soon I am pressed up against a wall. "Unless you want to." His slick smile is almost right in front of my face. I swallow a lump and look away from him. I can't stop the redness that are crawling up my neck and when he sees it a small chuckle escapes his lips.
"You are almost too easy." In a swift motion does he draw back and create space for me to breathe.
It's the first time that I have taken a good look at him. His hair is braided into long braids and he is in normal clothes. Or as normal as it can be. I don't know much about it but it looks like designer clothes. The pants are way too nice to come from the same place I sometimes buy clothes from when I have had a good job done. He sees me studying him and smiles. I then see him take a look down at me and I thank myself for wearing a shirt that covers most of my scar. Only a tip i visebal and my hair covers that. It draws too much attention and is too recognizable so I tend to hide it when in public.
My eyes fall to the men on the ground and their pockets. Without thinking do I walk past Ran and squats down so I can rummage through their pockets one after another. I find the little box and paper quickly and stuff it down into my own pocket and rise again. Ran is looking at me curious but doesn't say anything.
"I- Im gonna go," I manage to say and start to walk away. He doesn't stop me but I hear the steps that are right behind me.
"Alright then let's go." He's walking right beside me as we get out of the alley and I can't seem to relax in my body. What do he want from me. Why can't he just leave? I need to get back to the Black Dragons soon before my deadline ends. I'm already late because of the chase with the men. Ran can't slow me down further and he can't see where I'm going. Noone can know anything more about me than they already do. It's too risky if my brother ends up with the information. For two years have I been hidden from him. I'm not gonna let Ran ruin that.
