Out of everything in the damn daycare Paige hated Sundrop. The animatronic never seemed to be happy with what she did. Every move she made seemed to be the wrong one. Hell, the few times she did nothing wrong she was still somehow wrong. It didn't make much sense in her mind. But according to the animatronic she was just a bad kid.
So, she gave up on trying to be a good kid anymore.
What was the point of trying to be good if no one believed you were? Every single time that she played she was in trouble. Either she was too loud or too rough with the other kids. Last time she was 'too rough' the other kid bruised her face for crying out loud. Yet she was the one that got into trouble? This didn't seem to matter to Sundrop, and he put her in time out until the other kids left the daycare. Then had her help him clean up before making her go to sleep in one of the stupid little beds the place had for sleepovers. She was sure that he told her mom that she did something terrible before they left. As her mom, Monica, had grounded her for two weeks when they finally got home after her shift.
No video games and no leaving her room either.
It sucked but she put up with it. Just like she put up with everything that Sundrop seemed to love putting her through. Grinned and bore it. At least whenever it was nighttime, and she woke up Moondrop was nice. He listened to her when she told him about the frequent nightmares that she had been having. Holding her close as she sat in his lap. Petting her back as she told him how terrified she had been. That was when she was in the daycare and the whole place was wrecked. Not only was it wrecked but no one was around. Not him. Not Sundrop. Her mom wasn't there either and neither was Nessa.
That really weird lady her mom worked with.
And then there was this weird looking shape following her. Paige initially thought it was a man that was following her but then it morphed. Big awkward shaped lumps appeared on its head. The thing was rotting like it had been moldy or something. Whatever this big creature was it kept following her as she tried to run away. Yet no matter how fast she ran it was on her tail. Before it could lay a finger on her she would wake up. Crying and screaming for help. Moondrop would calm her down as he told her that she was safe. That he would never let anyone, or anything harm her when he was around. Tonight wasn't any different than any other night. That creature was hot on her heels and nearly caught her before she woke up.
"I promise. That creature cannot get you in the daycare.",Moondrop promised. Curling himself around her as protectively as he always had. It made her feel somewhat safer. But her anxious and tired mind kept telling her that he couldn't. Not always. Sundrop hated her and he was around her more than him. She sniffled as she wiped tears away with the back of her hand. Softly, she muttered,"But you can't be here forever. And Sundrop doesn't care about me. He'd probably be happy if that freaky creature ate me."
"No, he wouldn't. He would never let anyone harm you.",he tried. It was useless. Paige had it in her head that his other half hated her. As he only put her in time out when he felt she was acting out. And he knew that she didn't deserve it all the time. The time she broke another kid's nose was the only time. But everything else? No. Sighing, Moondrop continued,"I know you think otherwise but he could never bring himself to hurt a child."
"He's too soft for something like that.",he added. Trying to keep his tone light as he gently nuzzled the top of her head. Keeping her as calm as possible. And hoping that she wouldn't ask if he would harm a kid either. Which he wouldn't. Despite some of the children he'd dealt with he never actually physically attacked any of them. Just put them in time out or scolded them before putting them back in their sleep places. His appearance was probably the contributing factor for why so many of them were scared. Carefully standing up with her in his arms, he asked,"Now. How about we get you a candy to help you sleep?"
