He sat up straight, looking at her in alarm. "What are you talking about?"
Jessica avoided his question and turned on the TV. A pale but relieved looking reporter appeared on screen.
"What a turn of events!" she cried out. "Suddenly the infected victims have started to recover! Maybe the human race has finally started to regain immunity and power!"
"They kept their promise," she whispered.
"So...so this is true? This promise and you being infected with ISC...this is all really true?"
She looked at him with tears in her eyes. "Yes," she sobbed. "It's true. When you were passed out someone knocked on the door. They knew that we would come here, they knew! They demanded that I turn myself in and I refused and...and...and..." She broke down, tears pouring down her eyes. "I couldn't do anything but agree."
