Eren felt utterly frustrated. What bad luck to having to be in the same competition as his rival from years ago. He was reliving the moment all over again; watching the other male play and thinking that maybe he wasn't as good as him. Today, he was going to try his best and he will beat Levi or at least attempt to. Eren respected him and admired his music but at the same time, he had a burning passion of hate for him.
He was playing a piece that seemed to be Ballade No.1 in G minor Op 23 but Eren couldn' t be so sure; he played like it was a whole different song. He showed no emotion on his vacant face but Eren could sense the feelings he sent towards the piano. It was an angry sounding piece and to Eren it didn't sound so good since the notes seemed to almost crash into one another but that's what made it broad and alluring.
Soon the song ended and the crowd gave their neutral praise and applause. The judges began to jot down on paper while speaking amongst themselves, exchanging quick and quiet whispers while watching Levi walk off the stage. They seemed taken aback, but they did look like they recognized who he was; Levi was a pretty known musician here too and no one would let Eren hear the end of it.
Eren watched him carefully as he made his way back to the backstage again, stealing glances here and there while pretending to watch the next performance. No one approached Levi and maybe it was because of the atmosphere surrounding him; he didn't seem like that kind of person that anyone would just walk up to for a quick and polite chat. They were a few feet away and Eren could literally feel his eyes staring at his back.
Luckily, there was only the very excellent and professional musicians that came to compete in this competition so by the time they called Eren's name, his legs were not tired from standing too much. He passed Levi quietly as he made his way to the stage an he heard three words being murmured at him;
"Good luck, Jaeger."

The stage lights glistened down on the shiny wooden stage as the crowd held their breath, awaiting the results. Eren really did try his very best playing Violin sonata no. 9 'Kreutzer' first movement. He could feel the intensity as one of the judges came up with a small scroll of paper in his hand and he could have sworn that almost everyone stiffened up. He was also holding two medals and one plaque which made it even worse.
The air was cold but the lights of the stage were hot and Eren could feel a hundred pairs of eyeballs looking up at him and the rest of the people but he didn't feel nervous, he was a little scared and he was scared because he wanted to get first place. Second and third place was pretty satisfying to others but to him, it was nothing.
"First of all I just want to say that it was an honour to be watching everyone tonight," the judge said and although he was saying this to the performers on stage, he only looked at the audience which Eren found a bit stupid. "I am happy to announce that third place goes to the talented Lucy Nyue."
The crowd clapped very loudly as the named person gave a little bow and smiled happily, looking quite satisfied with herself as the judge grinned and handed her a bronze coloured medal.
"And for second place, I am proud to say that the wonderful Kei Simoze has achieved it for his beautiful music," he continued.
Eren clenched his hands into fists and grit his teeth as the judge paused before announcing who was first place. He knew he won it because of his strong effort and hours spent to practice. He could already taste victory.
"Now for first place-" the judge was quickly interrupted when a man came running on stage to whisper something to the other man's ear. He ran off which left the judge with a surprised expression on his face and eyes widening with shock.
