Eren's heart sunk and he opened his mouth to speak, but a whimper came out instead.
"What?" He felt extremely dizzy and almost fell to his eyes. He couldn't believe what Levi just said. He didn't want to believe it at all.
"Eren, I don't think this is going to work out," Levi said sternly. He wouldn't look at Eren.
"You're... You're breaking up with me?" Eren demanded. His words were slurred and his mind was a mess. He still couldn't understand.
"Yes.That's what I'm doing. I'm sorry."
Eren was stunned. His feet felt planted to the ground as if he were just snared into place. The man who he willingly opened up his heart to was dumping him, and it definitely didn't feel right. Eren didn't cry, he was sick of doing it, but he was indeed heartbroken about it. He had no idea what he was going to say, or what he wanted to say. What do people say as a reply when their partner wanted to split up? The very idea of Levi not belonging to him any longer was tragic and sorrowful, and if they were apart he wouldn't ever be able to let go. This was not what he wanted. Was the man tired of him? Did he finally open up his eyes and decided he didn't want to spend his life with a miserable, horomonal teenager and wanted to search for a beautiful woman worthy of being at his side instead? Did he grow tired of the boy? Eren would never be able to read Levi's face because it was expressionless again. He was the Levi he saw at the coffee shop. The Levi who hid himself behind a wall and never planned to head out.
Eren wasn't surprised. Of course Levi would want to leave him because who in their right mind would go out with a kid obsessed with music and anything related to it? Eren wasn't near worthy to be by Levi's side. He was a whiny and annoying kid while Levi was some prince or god. Eren was a negative ten and Levi was a hundred. Eren understood that, but it still hurt him to know that Levi wasn't able to stand him any longer.
Eren laughed. It was loud and without humour. He was laughing at himself because he was so pathetic. Levi sent him a questioning look with raised eyebrows.
"What's so funny, Eren?" Levi was frowning at him.
"Sorry. Could you maybe explain why?"
"I can't really explain it, but I always felt like something was missing," he answered.
Eren assumed he guessed right. He is tired of me. Oh.
"What do you think is missing?" Eren was whispering now because if he spoke a little more loud, his voice fail him and crack against his will.
"I'm just not the one for you," he replied.
Not the one for me? You were the one made me happy, the one who fed me because I'm a lazy asshat and the one who kissed me each night, Eren thought.
The same feeling when he was having his hands beaten was returning to him, but this was much worse. He would rather lose the skill in both of his hands than to leave Levi. He would rather lose a whole list of other important things than to even speak about breaking up, but why was this happening? Levi said he loved him, but why did he want to split it off? He was the man who confessed with such heart felt words and warm emotions back in his car, then finally kissed him for real in the very same spot; the entrance. It was the beginning of who they were together and now it was going to be the end.
"I'm doing this for your sake Eren," Levi went on. "You deserve someone else. I don't regret ever being with you, though."
"For my sake?" Eren shouted, his voice finally giving in. He sounded so broken.
"Because I love you and-"
Eren didn't let him finish his sentence. "You love me? Then why would you do this?"
