"All right, so Energy Dance in Waterford, Michigan. Again, you were second. Any other teacher would probably think overall high score, second place, was wonderful," Abby began. "And now onto pyramid."

"On the bottom, Paige and Brooke. Once again, you're still on probation. You never came to me and said, hey, can I enter my solo? Brooke, you should want to do that acrobatic routine. It was beautiful. Virella knows that routine inside and out. She's already mastered it, so maybe she should do it. If you're not going to step up, maybe it's time for someone who's ready to show that level of dedication."

"Next, Nia. Nia, you did a great job on your solo. You made top ten. But pay attention to the technique. Apply your corrections. You don't always do that."

"Lacey. Uhm, Lacey. You did the group, and it was good. You were on time, but sickled feet— we can't have that on stage. It's a small thing, but it makes a big difference when you're performing. Sickling your feet takes away from the clean lines we need to see. Your turns were good, though, but you need to be more aware of your whole body placement in each move."

"Next on the pyramid is Maddie. Maddie, you had a solo. It was a gorgeous, emotional solo. You were blind, deaf, and mute. But maybe you didn't act enough. Maybe the judges just weren't looking for emotional routines that day. You did the steps well, but sometimes, it's about more than just the technique. You've got to pull that emotional weight and let it flow through your whole performance. That connection is what leaves an impact."

"Next, we have Chloe. Chloe, you had the group and duet. The duet was gorgeous, and you did great with the group. I'm pleased with your performance."

"And next is Virella. You got the title and crown. I couldn't be prouder of you— except for that perfect score. We need to see more of you taking risks and pushing yourself beyond your comfort zone. You've mastered so much, but I need you to challenge yourself even more. You're capable of so much more than what you've shown so far. You've done great in your group and duet, but now it's time to step it up even further in your solos. Keep pushing."

"On top of the pyramid this week is Mackenzie. She won the overall high score and was crowned Petite Miss Energy Dance. Let's give her a round of applause."

Virella gave Mackenzie a warm hug. Even though Virella had won the entire competition, she couldn't be prouder of Mackenzie for taking the top spot.

"This week, we will be attending Star Power in Woodbridge, Virginia. This is the largest dance competition in the United States." Abby announced, her tone making it clear just how important this was.

"I'm excited about the group dance. I've been preparing for weeks. Mackenzie, you proved that you're not a little baby anymore. You must be advanced enough to be in the group dance. I'm not watering down the choreography. You'll be expected to do what everyone else does."

Mackenzie beamed at the praise, sitting up straighter.

"Maddie, you'll be doing a routine called Looking for A Place Like Home. It's a little spin on there's no place like home, a modern-day version."

"Chloe, you will also be doing a solo. Your solo is entitled What Goes Around, Comes Around." Abby said, turning slightly toward Christi as she spoke.

"And finally, Virella. You will be doing a solo, and it's called I Don't Know How to Say Goodbye. It's a gorgeous contemporary-lyrical, and it's perfect for you." Abby paused for dramatic effect before adding, "Also, I have a surprise. A boy surprise."
