KAIORI SLOWLY WOKE up and frowned when she didn't feel Malkiel's weight on her anymore. She quietly yawned and rubbed the sleep out of her eyes. She looked around her room, hoping to see him, but there was no sign of him.
She looked at the clock and raised her eyebrow—7:42 am.
At this time, he was usually sleeping especially because it was his off day.
She got out of bed with a sigh and headed to her bathroom so she could brush her teeth and wash her face with ice cold water.
Once she was done with her hygiene, she stayed in her PJ's that consisted in an oversight tee that she stole from Malkiel, and her christmas pyjama pant that she wore all year long.
She put on her house shoes and quietly went down the stairs since Kerion wouldn't be up for another hour. She noticed how the front door was slightly opened and that the alarm was off.
She opened the door wider and saw Malkiel reading on the porch steps, with a cup of coffee next to him. Now this wasn't particularly out of the ordinary, since she and him loved to read. But the time and the cup of coffee was. He wasn't a coffee person at all, only time he drank some was if he didn't sleep a lot and needed to stay up.
" Malkiel?" She spoke in her usual soft voice as she approached him. " You okay papa?" She questioned as she took a seat next to him on the steps.
" I don't know mama" He sighed and closed his book before putting it next to him. He planned on actually communicating with her instead of bottling up his feelings. After all, she deserved to know the truth.
" What's wrong?" She frowned and slowly rubbed his back. She knew it helped Kevion speak when he was upset, so she figured this might work with him too.
" Imma have ta' leave fa' a few weeks baby, I'm sorry" He shook his head, not knowing how she'll react to what he was about to say.
After he was woken up at three in the morning by Damien for a SOS meeting. It was brought to his attention that he had to go on an undercover operation—much to his protest.
Malkiel didn't do no undercover op anymore, especially after the incident happened. He used to be the best in undercover, that's actually what brought him to SWAT. But this wasn't a part of his life anymore.
He honestly tried to decline or to have this op moved to somebody else, but unfortunately, orders were orders. He had to obey those.
Which would have him leaving in two days, for approximately two weeks. It could be more, just like it could be less. And he prayed it was less.
