A/N: So I decided to go back through my current chapters and rewrite them from first person point of view. I had a hard time getting motivated to write and I am hoping that this helps me get in the right mindset. The chapter has also tripled in length, so that has to mean something right?
-Hana, Age 12-
My bare feet tapped against the cool wooden floorboards as I padded through the Takahashi house, the early morning light casting soft shadows through the windows. I wasn't the first to rise; Mama always beat me to it, her quiet presence already filling the kitchen with warmth by the time I stumbled out of bed. The comforting smells of breakfast wafted through the house, pulling me toward the kitchen like a magnet.
"Morning, Mama," I greeted, rubbing the sleep from my eyes as I stepped into the kitchen.
Mama looked up from where she was stirring a pot of miso soup, her golden blonde hair shining in the soft morning light. She smiled at me, her blue eyes bright and cheerful. "Good morning, Hana," she replied, her voice gentle as always. "Did you sleep well?"
I nodded, sliding into my usual spot at the table. "Uh-huh. What's for breakfast?"
She brought over a tray with bowls of steaming rice, grilled fish, and pickled vegetables, setting it down in front of me. "The usual," she said with a smile, ruffling my hair affectionately before sitting down across from me. "Eat up. You've got a busy day ahead of you."
I dug into my breakfast, the familiar flavors waking me up and filling me with energy. Mama ate with me, and we chatted about little things—the weather, the flowers blooming in the garden, and the plans I had for the day.
"I'm going to see Shikamaru after this," I said between bites, my excitement bubbling up as I thought about the adventures that awaited us.
Mama smiled knowingly. "Of course you are," she said, her eyes twinkling. "But take your time with breakfast, okay? You'll need your energy."
I nodded, though I was already bouncing in my seat, eager to be off. The spring air outside was calling to me, promising warmth and sunshine and endless possibilities. But Mama was right—I needed to eat, so I focused on finishing my meal, savoring each bite even as my mind raced ahead to what the day would bring.
When I finally finished, I pushed back from the table and hopped to my feet. "Thanks for breakfast, Mama!" I called as I grabbed my shoes from beside the door.
"Don't forget to take your jacket—it's still a little chilly in the mornings," she reminded me, her voice following me as I slipped into my shoes.
"I won't!" I promised, though I could barely contain my excitement. I shrugged into my jacket quickly, fumbling with the buttons in my haste. Just as I flung open the front door, Mama's gentle voice called after me once more.
"Hana, don't forget to close the door!" she reminded, her tone warm and familiar.
I paused, turning back to give her a sheepish grin. "Sorry, Mama!" I called out as I carefully shut the door behind me, making sure it was closed properly this time.
With the door securely shut, I finally burst outside, the cool morning air wrapping around me. I took a deep breath, filling my lungs with the fresh scent of dew-kissed grass and blooming flowers. The world felt alive with the promise of new adventures, and I was ready to dive right in.
As I dashed down the path toward Shikamaru's house, my heart raced with anticipation. The spring air was cool and crisp, but I barely felt it, my thoughts already with Shikamaru and the fun we would have today.
I darted down the path, my heart racing with anticipation. Shikamaru's house was just a few doors down, nestled between the tall, shady trees that lined the way. The early morning light filtered through the leaves, casting playful shadows on the walls of the houses. The soft rustling of the branches in the gentle breeze created a peaceful atmosphere, perfect for the lazy, tranquil start to the day. The dew still clung to the grass, and the air was crisp, filled with the fresh scent of the new day.
