-Hana, Age 12-
The next morning, I woke up with a swirling mix of excitement and nerves. The anticipation of what lay ahead had kept me tossing and turning most of the night, but now that the day had arrived, there was no room for doubt. I quickly got dressed in my new Genin attire—black shinobi pants that fit snugly, allowing for ease of movement, and a dark green tunic adorned with the symbol of Konoha stitched proudly on the chest. The outfit was simple, but wearing it filled me with a sense of purpose and belonging that I had never felt before.
As I stood before the mirror, my mother entered the room, her gentle smile reflecting back at me. "Here, let me help with your hair," she offered, her voice warm and soothing. She carefully twisted my blonde curls into a neat braid, her fingers working with practiced ease. She made sure to secure the braid tightly, ensuring my bangs wouldn't fall into my eyes during training. As she worked, I caught a glimpse of the pride in her eyes, and it gave me a small boost of confidence.
"There," she said, stepping back to admire her work. "Perfect. You look every bit the shinobi you've worked so hard to become." She placed a hand on my shoulder, her touch reassuring. "Good luck today, Hana. I know you'll do great."
I turned to face her, trying to mirror her confidence with a smile of my own. "Thanks, Mom," I replied, though my voice wavered slightly. The butterflies in my stomach were still fluttering, but her encouragement helped to steady my nerves. I grabbed a piece of toast from the kitchen counter, along with an apple, and tucked them into my bag. With a quick kiss on her cheek, I dashed out the door, eager yet anxious to meet my new team.
The walk to the training grounds was short, but it felt like an eternity as my mind raced with thoughts of what awaited me. The path was familiar, lined with trees whose leaves rustled softly in the morning breeze, but today everything seemed sharper, more vivid. The weight of my new responsibilities hung heavily on my shoulders, but I was determined to rise to the occasion.
As I approached the training grounds, I could see my new teammates already gathered. Rock Lee, with his ever-enthusiastic grin, was in the middle of an impressive set of push-ups, his energy seemingly boundless even this early in the morning. His green jumpsuit clung to his muscular frame, and even from a distance, I could see the determination etched on his face.
Tenten, ever the meticulous one, was seated nearby, carefully polishing her weapons. The sunlight glinted off the kunai and shuriken she held, reflecting her sharp focus and precision. Her brown hair was pulled into its usual buns, and her eyes, though concentrated on her task, softened when she noticed me approaching.
Neji stood off to the side, his arms crossed over his chest, his posture perfectly composed. His long, dark hair fell around his face, partially obscuring his pale eyes, which were closed in what seemed like deep contemplation. Even in stillness, he radiated an aura of quiet strength and control, a reminder of the powerful Byakugan that lay behind those closed lids.
"Good morning!" I called out as I reached them, trying to inject some cheerfulness into my voice despite the nerves fluttering in my chest.
Lee sprang to his feet with a burst of energy that took me by surprise, his face lighting up with an enthusiasm that was almost contagious. "Good morning, Hana!" he exclaimed, his voice booming with excitement. "Are you ready for an exciting day of training?! Today is the day we push our limits and grow stronger!"
Tenten glanced up from her weapons, a smile playing on her lips. "Morning, Hana. Don't mind Lee; he's always like this," she said with a knowing look, though there was no malice in her words. If anything, her tone carried a hint of fondness for her teammate's relentless optimism.
