Ling's pov
Orm had come over to spend the weekend with me, and despite our usual active plans, this time, all she wanted was to rest. We were tangled in bed, her body warm and comforting next to mine—a rare, quiet moment between us, and one I cherished deeply.
"Orm, shouldn't we plan our wedding?" I asked, my mind drifting to the big event that was now just on the horizon. The idea of it all felt surreal, yet thrilling.
"Actually, it's already planned," she replied, her voice calm and casual. Her words caught me completely off guard.
"What? How?" I turned to look at her, my curiosity piqued. "You just asked me yesterday!"
She grinned, clearly enjoying my surprise. "I might have been planning it without asking you," she confessed, her eyes sparkling with mischief.
I couldn't help but laugh at her audacity. "You're crazy," I said, leaning in to give her a quick, playful kiss. Her lips were soft against mine, and I lingered, feeling a flutter of warmth in my chest.
"Yeah, crazy for you," she teased back, her tone light but filled with affection. "Anyway, I can show you what I've planned if you want to change anything."
She was pretending not to be affected by the kiss, trying to maintain that nonchalant demeanor, but I knew better. The way her breath caught slightly, the faint blush on her cheeks—I could tell she was just as affected as I was.
"I'll trust you," I said, my voice softening as I snuggled closer to her. I felt the steady rhythm of her heartbeat against my cheek, grounding me in this moment of simple happiness.
...
A sudden knock on the door interrupted our peaceful moment. I groaned, not wanting to leave the comfort of the bed. "Orm, can you open it?" I asked, still lying in bed, unwilling to move from this cozy cocoon we'd created.
"Sure, sweetie," she said in that melodic tone of hers that always made my heart flutter. She got up and headed to the door, and I closed my eyes, expecting it to be something trivial. But the sound of her voice suddenly perked my attention.
"Are you Freen Sarocha?" Orm asked, her tone a mix of curiosity and surprise.
My eyes snapped open, and I scrambled out of bed. "Shit, Freen," I muttered under my breath as I rushed to the door, just in time to see Freen standing there with a confused, but unmistakably mischievous smile.
"Yes, it's me," Freen replied, her eyes flicking between Orm and me. "Aren't you Orm?"
"Yeah, aka Ling's wife," Orm said, looking at me with a playful grin.
"Orm!" I exclaimed, quickly covering her mouth with my hand to stop her from saying anything more embarrassing.
But she wasn't having it. She pulled my hand away, her eyes shining with mischief. "We're married!" she declared, her voice filled with a mix of pride and joy.
"Wait, you already asked her?" Freen asked, turning her amused gaze on me.
Orm looked at me, her expression suddenly softening with happiness. "You were going to ask me to marry you?" she asked, her voice filled with surprise and delight.
Freen, ever the instigator, chimed in with a grin. "She said she wanted to ask but didn't know how."
I felt my face heat up with embarrassment. "Can we stop exposing me?" I pleaded, trying to steer the conversation away from my failed attempts at proposing. The vulnerability in Orm's eyes, though, told me she was more touched than she let on.
