Ling's pov
Orm walked into my office, her presence immediately disrupting the focused calm I had forced upon myself. "Hi baby," she greeted, her voice carrying that teasing lilt that always left me off balance.
I barely glanced up from my work, keeping my voice even. "Hm," I muttered, trying to maintain my composure. I couldn't afford to get swept up in emotions again—not today.
Orm, however, wasn't one to be easily dismissed. "Hm? I want an answer, not a moan," she shot back, her tone playful but with a hint of challenge. I looked at her, startled by her persistence.
"What do you want, Orm?" I asked, the irritation seeping into my voice. She was relentless, and as much as I loved her, I wasn't in the mood for games.
Her eyes sparkled with mischief as she leaned in closer. "You," she teased, the single word hanging between us like a dare.
I sighed, trying to keep my frustration in check. "Just tell me what you want so I can get back to work."
She leaned on my desk, her arms crossing as she studied me with that infuriatingly knowing gaze. "Are you too busy today?" she asked, tilting her head slightly as if trying to see past the mask I was wearing.
"Yes," I replied curtly, my eyes dropping back to the papers in front of me, attempting to escape the intensity of her attention. But Orm was having none of it. With a swift, playful motion, she swiped the papers from under my nose.
"You're not anymore," she declared, her voice softening as she leaned in closer. "Are you mad at me?"
Her question caught me off guard, and I hesitated before responding. "No, give me my papers," I managed to say, my voice a little less certain.
"Why? What did I do this time?" she persisted, her tone filled with genuine concern now, though still tinged with that teasing edge.
"Nothing. Just give me my papers," I repeated, but my voice lacked the conviction it had before. I could feel her eyes searching my face, trying to decipher the emotions I was trying so hard to conceal.
Orm leaned in even closer, her lips hovering just inches from mine. "If you're not mad at me, kiss me," she whispered, her voice a seductive challenge.
"Give me my papers," I insisted again, but my voice was softer now, betraying how much I was struggling to maintain my resolve.
"Kiss me if you want them, and if you're not mad," she repeated, her eyes twinkling with a mix of affection and determination.
My defenses crumbled as I pushed my chair back and stood up, bringing myself to her eye level. I cupped her cheeks with my hands, feeling the warmth of her skin under my palms, and pressed my lips to hers in a firm, yet tender kiss.
Orm smiled against my lips, clearly pleased with herself. "Good. Now come with me," she said, taking my hand in hers.
"Orm, I have to work," I protested weakly as she led me towards the door, but even I knew my heart wasn't in it. She had already seen through my half-hearted excuse.
"I know you're lying. You just need to send those papers next week," she said with a sly grin. She knew the deadlines, knew the rhythm of my work. She knew everything about me.
Damn businesswoman, I thought, but I couldn't help but smile. "Fine," I relented, allowing her to guide me out of the office.
She led me to her car, the warmth of her hand in mine making it hard to hold onto my earlier irritation. "Taking me to a park again?" I teased, trying to guess what she had planned.
