Wings of Fire: Whistling Skies

Chapter 1

Corvus, a continent with many different nations, cultures and people. Corvus is relatively calm, and most nations will go about doing the things they do. But this doesn't always last. Some of these nations want to claim the others land for a variety of reasons, whether it be resources, extra land, or a show of power. So, what do you get when 4 nations who team up for those reasons?

A continental war. One where all of the different nations, cultures, and people fight each other out of pure anger. These different people will call on their enemy's downfall, but the soldiers will be the ones calling for it to end.

And then there's the dragons, on the other continents of course, this one, Corvus is ruled and inhabited only by humans. There were never dragons in Corvus, they've always been in Pyrhhia and Pantala.

These dragons will discover it, and lead to many things, but I cant tell you that here. That will slowly be told in a story, through the accounts of many soldiers in the Corvan War. You will see first hand their accounts, their near death, and their regret.

The Republic of Gräsen, It was a great nation, sitting in the west of the continent. Gräsen stretched from a snowy, mountainous area down to Veruckt, where the mountains starting to get smaller, and more of a desert area starts. There was a problem for one nation passed Veruckt, in the very southern part of the continent. The Kingdom of Astenia

Astenia was completely covered in desert, it was the hottest part of the whole continent. Due to the extreme heat and desert, Astenia relied on trading with other nations to get most of its crops. But Astenia didn't want to trade anymore, they wanted to take the source of the crops.

Veruckt grew many things, including corn, watermelons, raspberries, strawberries, and many more. Astenia's people were hungry, even though yes, they did trade, it wasn't enough to satisfy everybody. 

Astenia also didn't have many resources, the only thing they could brag and boast about was the oil in the desert. But it wasn't enough to get what they needed. So the king ordered his top military strategists to form an invasion plan of Veruckt.

These strategists spent hours analyzing weak points of the nation, the southern region would be hell for their soldiers, it was flat, barren and dead. But it would also be hell for Veruckt.

The strategists came to one conclusion, that is, if they got permission from their other neighboring country Cervius. Cervius was quite fond of Astenia, the nations were on good terms with each other due to them both having leaders that quite liked each other.

The conclusion that needed the permission of Cervius, was to invade from the south to draw Veruckt's army to the area. Then, Cervius would let there troops through to attack from the north-east.

However, Veruckt was allies with Gräsen, Gräsen was willing to help and aid Veruckt with their own blood. A meeting was called, well, a secret one between Astenia, Cervius, Arkiel and Celeste. This secret meeting was to form an alliance, they made plans to all split the continent through invasion. They were going to invade their enemies, and conquer them.

Adan Baumer, Cerviun soldier

All this marching was driving him crazy, this stupid, stupid marching. The hours felt like days to poor Adan Baumer, a regular soldier with a regular rank. His boot sank into the mud beneath him, he groaned. 

Stupid mud, stupid marching. He thought, as he struggled to get his boot out of the mud. This isn't how I imagined the military

He jogged to catch up with the line, but nobody would care if he didn't. They hated him.
