They arrived at Lisa's apartment, the deep hush of midnight wrapping around them like a soft blanket. The faint glow of the streetlights outside filtered through the window, creating a cozy ambiance in the small kitchen. The kitchen had filled with the vibrant aromas of a freshly prepared meal, echoing with the remnants of laughter and conversation, a testament to the warmth of the evening.
Once the meal was ready, Brian set the table with care and as they sat down to eat, Brian served the meal, "Here you go," he said, plating the steaming pasta, fragrant and colorful. "Bon appétit."
"You really know your way around a kitchen," she remarked, admiring his cooking," Lisa laughed, took her first bite, her eyes lighting up with delight. "It's wonderful. You're quite a chef."
"Midnight cooking is an art," he teased, leaning back in his chair, satisfaction etched on his face. "I'm glad you think so. Cooking is just another way to show appreciation."
As they enjoyed their dinner, the atmosphere was warm and comfortable, their earlier playful banter giving way to a deeper, more genuine connection.
Meanwhile, Sophia was driving aimlessly through the city streets, her hands gripping the steering wheel tightly. The vibrant lights of the city blurred as she tried to steady her breathing. She needed to escape, hoped for clarity, but was left with an unsettling disappointment and heartbreak.
Navigating through the empty streets, the weight of her emotions felt almost unbearable. She realized that Brian and Lisa's relationship was far more serious than she had anticipated.
Brian's eyes sparkled with admiration when he looked at Lisa, the way he had held her hand and acknowledged her publicity all struck Sophia with a painful realization. The affection and commitment they shared had caught her off guard, leaving her feeling saddened and deeply unsettled.
Eventually, Sophia pulled over her car and stepped out to get fresh air. Her emotions broke free. Tears streamed down her face as she let out the sobs she had been holding back. The night air was crisp, and the solitude of the empty road with silence offered a temporary solace, a space for her to confront the painful reality of the evening's revelations.
After some time, Sophia gathered herself, wiped her tears, and took a deep breath. She knew she had to face whatever come next, understanding that healing would come with time. The night had turned into a moment of self-reflection—a painful yet necessary confrontation with her feelings.
Back at Lisa's apartment, the meal ended, Lisa looked at Brian with a smile, "Thank you for dinner," Lisa said, her voice low yet filled with appreciation.
Brian reached across the table, taking her hand gently, "I'm glad to hear that. I've had a wonderful time too."
Lisa's gaze softened, "I'd love to know more about you—about your family. What are they like?"
Brian hesitated for a moment, his expression dimming slightly. He looked down at their joined hands, his expression briefly shadowed. He cleared his throat, changing the subject, "Oh, just a usual family, nothing special. But hey, how about we watch a movie?"
Lisa noticed the shift in his demeanor but decided not to press further. She smiled, trying to keep the mood light. "A movie? Isn't it too late for that?"
Brian chuckled softly, his eyes sparkling with a hint of mischief. "Too late? No, I was thinking... maybe I could stay over at my newly made girlfriend. You know, it would be so nice to just relax and enjoy a late-night movie, hand in hand..."
Lisa raised an eyebrow, surprised by his boldness. She laughed, a teasing smile playing on her lips. "Oh, really? Are you trying to make a move? And what makes you think I'd agree to such a proposal?"
"Come on," he said, leaning closer, his tone light yet sincere. "Just trying my luck. You're kicking me out already?" Brian's playful grin faltered slightly, leaning back with a mock pout.
"Kicking you out?" Lisa laughed, shaking her head, "No, I'm just making sure you don't get too comfortable too soon. Besides, I think a little suspense might be good for us."
With a playful grin, Lisa gently pushed Brian towards the door. As they neared it, Brian suddenly reached out, taking her hand and pressing her gently against the wall. Their faces were inches apart, and Lisa's breath caught in her throat, her heart pounding so loudly that Brian could probably hear it and the space between them shrinking to nothing.
Brian's smile softened into a look of intense focus, "Is that how it's going to be?" he asked, leaning closer, his tone light but earnest.
She could feel the warmth of his breath against her skin. His expression softened, and his eyes held a depth of emotions that made her heart flutter. Lisa closed her eyes tightly, expecting a kiss.
With a gentle but deliberate surrender, Brian brushed his lips against her ear and placed a gentle kiss whispering, "Don't worry, I won't kiss."
Lisa's breath was shallow, her body pressed against the wall as she looked up at him surprisingly. The vulnerability in her voice was palpable as she murmured, "Brian..."
His gaze sparkled with mischief, a playful smile tugging at his lips. "You know, whenever you say my name, it feels like I'm surrendering myself to you."
The warmth of his words hung between them, intensifying the moment. Lisa's heart raced, caught between exhilaration and uncertainty.
"So, you're really kicking me out?" he asked, a teasing glint dancing in his eyes, though his tone remained sincere.
Lisa pushed him back gently, with playfulness.
Therefore, Brian opened the door and stepped out with a cheerful smile looking back to her, Lisa watched him leave with a smile. The evening had ended with a thrilling and tender moment, leaving both of them in thrill of newfound closeness.
Brian arrived at his mansion, and the clock struck 3 a.m. As he entered the mansion where he meets Mary, the long-time servant who had been like a grandmother to him. She stood in the hallway, pretty concerned.
"Brian," Mary greeted him warmly, though there was a hint of worry in her eyes, "Your father, Andrew Luther, was quite angry noticing you weren't home for dinners these days and that you returned at this hour."
Brian's smile remained unchanged as he hugs her warmly, brushing off her concern, "Oh, you know how it is. He doesn't need much of an excuse to be angry with me anyway. Just forget about it."
Mary's eyes softened with understanding, happy to see him genuinely smiling after ages, "You... But I'm glad to see you're in good spirits, though. Shall I get you something to eat?"
Brian's eyes sparkled with a mischievous glint. "Actually, no. I'm full. But... If things go as I hope, Granny, I might be introducing you to someone soon."
"It'll be like the way you wanted. I'll look forward to it then." Mary's face brightened, her happiness is evident. "And you, Mr. Brian, make sure to take some rest from your busy schedule."
Brian gave her a warm hug and grateful smile yet concerning, "I will. Thanks Granny, and you don't wake till late for me. Go to bed, good night."
As he made his way up the grand staircase, his steps were light, and his heart was brimming with joy. The night had overflowed with unexpected delight, and the promise of introducing someone special to Mary added to his contentment.
