As the first golden rays of dawn seeped through the curtains, they painted the room with a gentle, hopeful light. Brian awoke with a lingering sense of joy, even though he hadn't gotten much sleep the night before.
He stretched and glanced out the window, spotting his father engaged in his usual morning routine of stretching and exercising. He took a moment to soak in the peaceful morning ambiance. As today felt different—like it held promise, like something exciting was just around the corner.
A knock on the door interrupted his thoughts.
"Come in," Brian called out.
"Good morning!" Mary greeted him cheerfully as she entered, her voice brimming with genuine warmth. "Here's your coffee." The aroma of freshly brewed coffee filled the air, adding to the cozy atmosphere.
Brian smiled and hugged her warmly. "Good morning, Granny! You're the sweetest," he said, kissing her cheek.
Mary chuckled, her eyes sparkling with affection. "Did you sleep well?" she asked, settling into a chair across from him.
"Not really, but I woke up feeling good," Brian replied, taking a sip of the coffee. The warmth spread through him, complementing the morning light streaming in. "What about you?"
"Oh yeah, don't worry," she said, her eyes lightened up. "I'll head in kitchen, come down for breakfast."
With a smile, Marry left the room.
Brian finished his coffee, feeling its warmth and caffeine gently kick-starting his day. He took a quick shower and got ready for work, choosing his usual attire. After a quick glance in the mirror, he made his way to the dining area for breakfast.
As always, the dining room was quiet, with his father absorbed in his own world, focused on his newspaper.
"Good morning, Mr. Luther," Brian said, which his father acknowledged with a muted murmur.
The scent of sizzling bacon and toasted bread wafted through the air, making his stomach rumble.
After breakfast, Brian grabbed his keys and headed to his car. The drive to work was smooth, and he found himself in unusually high spirits. The sun was shining brightly, and the city seemed to be moving at a pleasant pace. He pulled into the parking lot, ready to tackle the day ahead.
Arriving at the company, Brian was greeted by his secretary, Alex. "Good morning, Mr. Brian," Alex said. "I've received the R&D report. Now, shall I schedule a brief meeting with Ms. Sophia? And in noon, you have a meeting with the production team."
Brian nodded, taking the report from Alex and glanced at the report. "Everything seems smooth, Let's head to Sophia's office now."
As they walked through the hallways, Brian looked forward to discussing the report with her. But when they reached Sophia's office, her secretary greeted them with an apologetic expression.
"I'm sorry, Mr. Brian, but Ms. Sophia isn't well and might not come in today. I'll reschedule your meeting."
Brian felt a twinge of frustration at the news. "Alright. Make it as soon as possible. This is important," he replied, keeping his tone steady.
"Well, sent a bouquet to Sophia with a get well soon note." Brian instructed to Alex, trying to keep his spirits up, "It looks like I'll have some extra time on my hands this morning. I'll head to the production team meeting a bit earlier and catch up on some other tasks."
Alex nodded. "Sounds good. I'll update you once we have a new time for the meeting with Ms. Sophia."
Brian took a deep breath and headed toward the production department, ready to make the most of his day despite the unexpected change in plans.
