Sebastian knew it all along.
Maybe it was the way you would smile at something he said, or maybe it was how you would gently cradle his face with your grubby little hands as you comforted him.
He was afraid. Even if he had asked you to stay here with him and essentially abandon your humanity, he couldn't help but feel... off.
He felt guilt, anger, and sadness. But, he also felt happiness. You had become a beacon of hope for him, his sun.
He felt bad for you. If only he was still human, he could give you the attention you wanted, and yet, you didn't care for any of that.
The numerous amount of DNA that courses through his blood sometimes makes him forget that he was once human.
The feeling is surreal, as if he's losing his grip on his humanity. But you, you make it all go away.
Maybe that's what he liked about you. You treat him as if you were equals.
"Seb, Seb!" You cheerfully chirped, coming through the vent opening of his shop.
Sebastian smiled, eager to see what you got this time. "Hmm?"
You rushed through the vent, snapping up with a big smile, and holding up what appeared to be a... mini Sebastian?
He was in awe. "What the hell is that?" He grinned, holding back laughter.
"It's you! Er... At least I tried to make it look like you..." Your eyebrows furrowed but your smile stayed, looking super lost.
You held it up to him, and he picked it up, placing it on his palms. You somehow managed to make an origami replica of him, every detail in perfect order.
Although it was colorless aside from black due to the lack of colors around the facility, he still appreciated the sentiment. Small tears welled up in his eyes, but he quickly wiped them away, returning your smile.
"This is amazing, thank you, [Name]." He set it onto his table where his document used to be.
You happily squealed as you went to your usual spot on his tail, slowly kicking your feet as the two of you got engaged in conversation.
Your voice was like music to his ears. Such a sweet melody that he could never get tired of.
Sebastian couldn't even keep his claws off of you, he always had to have at least one arm on your body.
His claws felt nice on your head, especially when he scratches in a gentle manner, it felt heavenly, and you couldn't help but let out a soft sigh.
He savored small moments like this.
Sebastian Solace was in love with you.
