Inosuke remember roughly bandaging his wounds and then calling a hashira meeting. Mitsuri did most of the explaining. It was definitley not the most physically or mentally tasking fight of their lives, however the scary part was thinking about how many stronger demons were out there. He was only the Upper Five and it took two Hashira and an hour and a half to finish him off, did they even really stand a chance against the top four or Muzan?
After that, his blood began to soak through the thin bandages they used, so he was sent to the hospital. In the hospital he revieced a stern talking to from his girlfriend, sedatives, and the proper care needed to help him recover from a bruised spine and a gaping hole in his chest.
Whenever he woke back up, the first thing he saw was Aoi's perfect face. He reached his hands up and cupped her face. He brought her lips down to his and kissed her, he had really missed her. Throughout his entire fight with the Upper Moon all he could think about was making sure that he didn't lose Mitsuri and returning home to her. Seeing her face made him feel like he was in heaven. . . okay maybe that was a bad anaology.
Once they pulled apart from their kiss, Aoi flicked Inosuke on his nose.
"OUCH!"
"That's what you get for scaring the living shit out of me!"
"What do you mean? I haven't pulled any pranks on you!"
She rolled her eyes and pinched the bridge of her nose. "I meant the whole thing about getting stabbed by a poisonous blade in your vital point. If Nezuko's blood demon art wasn't able to destroy the poison, you had a higher chance of death than you did sruvival."
"Baby, I thought you'd know not to be afraid of that."
"I'm your girlfriend! How am I supposed to just be okay with you coming back with wounds like this?"
"Because I'm a hashira, this is my job. Save the world at my own expenese."
Aoi began to cry. "But what about me?"
"Baby I trust you with my life, no matter how bad my wounds are I will always have faith that you can bring me home."
"What if I can't, Ino? What if you're hurt too badly for me to save you? What if you die on the battle field? What if-"
"Then know that I'm resting easy." Inosuke sighed. "If I were to leave you too soon, I want you to live out your life in a way that can make you feel happy. I don't want you to live with an empty space in your heart."
"Ino please don't speak like that."
"I want you to live a long a fulfilling life full of love and joy, I don't want anything to take away that little sparkle of passion in your eyes, Aoi. Promise me that even if I die, you'll live for me."
"Of course," She sobbed squeezing his hand. She kissed his hand gently "Anything for you my love, anything always and forever."
He then spent the next hour trying to convince Aoi that the only cure for his injuries was for her to get into the bed with him and cuddle him, but she argued back telling him that he needed actual sleep. However, Inosuke eventually got her to cave and she cuddled him until he dozed off.
When he woke up, Aoi wasn't there. Fuck, she played him into taking a nap! He started to walk around headquarters, looking for his swords. He wanted to go ahead and get a head start on his rehabilitaion training since that was such a tedious process anyways.
On his way, he ran into Rengoku. "Oh you poor boarheaded kid! You look famished!"
Now that he was thinking about it, he hadn't eaten since the morning of the day that the fight happened on. So it had been two days. . .
"I'm not famished!" He lied "I'm stronger than ever! I'm actually about to start my rehabilitaition training now, I just need to find my swords."
"Are you really in such a rush that you don't have time to get some bento with me and my boyfriend!?" He asked.
Inosuke considered, he did always have fun whenever he third wheeled this flashy ass couple. Plus, Aoi would probably be against him jumping into training again when his wound wasn't even actually healed.
"Actually, that sounds way more fun than training!"
"Are you going to put on a shirt before we go out?!" Rengoku asked. The two stared at each other awkwardly before they simultaneously burst into laughter. "Ah, you know I'm joking my good friend! Let's get a move on, Tengen told me that me would meet me there!"
Over lunch, the three boys talked about everything. These two were definitely his second favorite couple. They talked about his relationship with Aoi, their relationship with each other, his bond with Obanai and Mitsuri, their hashira rankings, gossip about the other hashira, their concerns for their futures after the final battle, and pretty much anyithing else that came to mind.
That was when Inosuke's bleak thought same back, he decided that if there was any couple that he could ask this two, it was these two. "Hey, how would you want your spouse to live if you died and the they survived? Me and Aoi had a talk about this and I told her that I wanted her to have a life full of happiness and love, but it also makes me sick to my stomach to think that there's a chance she falls in love with someone else and replaces me after I die. I know that it's not fair to feel that way since she'd live miserably if she never got over me, but I just don't know how to find a solution that can make us both happy; I don't know if there is one."
"I always scares me when you start talking with your emotions and your brain instead of your muscles." Laughed Tengen, earning him an elbow to the arm from Rengoku.
"We actually can't say this outloud, we're keeping it secret from each other." They smiled at each other warmly.
"What?" Grunted Inosuke.
"We wrote each other notes, we keep them in little leather bags attatched to our sheaths. If one of us survive the battle, the surivivor reads the note and follows any instructions left on it. If neither survive, the master has already agreed to burn both notes without opening them. And if we both survive, we burn the notes ourselves and live our lives the way we dreamt of." Rengoku explained.
"That's such a clever way to go about it," Inosuke complimented. He then decided that he was going to leave Aoi with a note. "Thank you guys, I think I know what to do about me and Aoi."
He got up and ran from the bento shop into the direction of his hotel, jumping tables, chairs, and even people if they were in his way.
"Happy to help!" Yelled Tengen from behind him.
Dearest Aoi,
I love you. Even in the afterlife I will spend eternity loving you. You make me feel a way that I can't feel without you. It does hurt me to think of you loving anyone else after I'm gone from this world, but it hurts me more to think of you being unhappy. Aoi, my beautiful girl, I want you to live a life that makes you feel fulfilled and happy. I want you to grow old and die knowing you lived your life to its fullest potential. Just know that I will be waiting for you in the heavens, even if you don't love me anymore I'll always be ready to give you all of the love I have when I see you again. Thank you so much for making me feel safe and okay to love how I want to and be who I am. I will never forget you.
Love, Inosuke.
