The car ride home was tense and silent. Taehyung, still feeling the aftershocks of the sudden encounter at the hospital, stared out the window, his mind a tangled mess of confusion and frustration. Sofia, nestled in his arms, had fallen asleep, her tiny hand clutching his shirt as if she sensed his unease. Fatima sat beside him, her grip on his free hand tight, almost possessive, as she gazed straight ahead, her face a mask of determination.

The sight of Jin, Namjoon, and especially Jungkook had stirred something deep within Taehyung—something he couldn’t quite place. The memories were elusive, like trying to grasp smoke, but the emotions they brought were undeniable. There was an ache in his chest, a feeling of loss that gnawed at him, leaving him feeling hollow.

When they finally reached home, Fatima quickly ushered Taehyung inside, her voice a gentle, almost coaxing whisper. "Let’s get Sofia to bed," she said, her eyes flicking between Taehyung and the sleeping child. "She’s had a long day."

Taehyung nodded, following her lead as they carried Sofia to her room. Once she was tucked in, her soft breaths steady and peaceful, they retreated to their own bedroom. The moment the door closed behind them, the silence between them became suffocating.

Fatima busied herself with taking off her jewelry, placing each piece carefully on the dresser. She avoided Taehyung’s gaze, her movements stiff, as if she were trying to hold herself together. Taehyung, standing by the bed, watched her, his mind still reeling from the day’s events.

"Fatima," he began hesitantly, unsure of how to broach the subject that had been gnawing at him since they left the hospital

"Fatima," he began hesitantly, unsure of how to broach the subject that had been gnawing at him since they left the hospital. "Who were those people? The ones who came to see me?"

Fatima’s hand paused mid-air, her back still turned to him. She took a deep breath, forcing herself to remain calm. "They’re… people from your past," she said carefully, choosing her words with precision. "They were worried about you, that’s all."

Taehyung frowned, sensing there was more to the story than she was telling him. "Why don’t I remember them? They seemed so… familiar, especially Jungkook."

The mention of Jungkook’s name made Fatima stiffen visibly. She turned around, her eyes hardening as she looked at him. "You don’t remember them because they aren't important taehyung. They’re part of a life you left behind," she said, her voice edged with something that sounded almost like desperation. "A life that wasn’t good for you."

Taehyung’s confusion deepened, his heart sinking with a sense of unease. "But why… why does it feel like I’m missing something important? Like there’s a part of me that—"

"Taehyung, please," Fatima interrupted, her voice rising slightly as she stepped closer to him. "You have everything you need right here, with me and Sofia. We’re your family now. You don’t need to dig up the past. It’s better left forgotten."
