Benny has always loved and looked up to his big brother, Mikey. Ever since he was young, their mom would tell them that Mikey wanted a baby brother to play with and was very excited to find out that his mom had a boy. Their mom would say that they were soul brothers. Benny was struck like glue from the minute he could walk to follow Mikey around.

So when Mikey told them that he was going to college about an hour away from them when Benny was six. He was the most upset but Mikey promised him that he would visit every weekend and he did. Benny did miss him during the week but Mikey made it a point to call him. Always making sure that Benny knew that if he ever needed his older brother. All he had to do was call him and Mikey would come running.

Mikey moved back home when he was 22 and Benny was 10. Their mother was happy to have her oldest son back home with them but their father was a bit upset that Mikey hadn't brought a girl back home. "I swear if you come out a fag Mikey" their father started but Mikey just rolled his eyes at his words. "I promise pops that I like girls but I need to focus on getting a good education before I score a real honest woman. No father would let their daughter go and marry a no good man. I need to make sure that my future wife's father knows that I will take care of his little girl." Mikey replied, smiling cheeky very well that their father usually shut up when he says that, knowing that his son has a point. Their father was a very homophobic man. Mikey had met a woman  within two months of coming back and married her last year. Her name was Nyx and she was beautiful. Their mother had loved her right away. She was kind with Benny, never minding when Mikey brought Benny around to their house. They hadn't tried for a baby due to Nyx wanting to wait a while before becoming a mother.

So when Benny started catching feelings for the boy across the street that didn't know how to play ball, three years later. He panicked, he knew that their father would soon expect Benny to start dating. He didn't know at first why he felt so protective of Smalls until his brother explained how it feels to be in love.

"Benny, it's the best thing ever. You want them to be safe and you will do everything in your power to make sure they do. They make you feel safe. Like the rest of the world doesn't matter. You feel peace in their presence and you want to be around them all the time. Their flaws aren't flaws to you, they're what you love the most. Their words bring you so much joy that you almost will ask them to talk just to hear it. You can feel like you can let your walls down with them. Benny trust me, you will know deep in your guts. It would tell you. It's like when you're playing ball, you don't even have it in you to mess it up. That same gut feelings is when you fall in love"

So when he found himself actually listening to Small explain to him how baseball can be broken down to science. He knew that he was utterly screwed. He was in love with his best friend. The boy that Benny got himself in a chase with the Beast just to get Smalls out of the trouble he was in. Because Benny couldn't bear to see his defeated look. How he almost feels drawn to Smalls in every way possible. The fact that Smalls was horrible at ball when they first met. The same feeling that he feels when Kenny was about to throw a pitch at him is exactly how he feels right in the moments with Smalls in front in Smalls room due to his dad grounded him due to losing his Babe Ruth ball.

"Benny, are you listening?" Smalls wave his hand in front of his face. Benny just nodded and smiled. "Yeah, I'm sorry. I just got lost in thought for a sec there" Benny explained, rubbing his forehead. "You know, you don't have to stay with me for my grounding. You can go and play with the boys" Smalls gives him an out but Benny finds himself , quickly shaking his head. "No I'm good Smalls" Benny nudged Smalls with his feet. They were on the floor, facing each other.

Smalls just stares at him, trying to see if he can spot a lie in Benny's face. "Come on, just continue saying what you were saying" Benny encouraged him. "It's fine, I kinda lost my point anyways" Smalls blushed.
