"You might already know this but long ago fae and fairies lived peacefully as one. The Kingdom of Fairiel was originally ruled by King Dawn's father, King Faust. King Faust was a kind ruler who ruled over the fairies. He kept the peace between fae and fairy.
His son...wasn't so peaceful. King Dawn tormented fae and while his father tried to maintain the peace, it wasn't always easy. Although, King Faust wasn't innocent either...
One day King Faust took his son out hunting for the weekend. They stayed in the forest for three days. When King Faust returned, he returned without his son. The people scoured the kingdom in search of him and the fairies asked everyone in the forest where he could be.
While this was going on King Faust never talked about it. In fact, he never searched for his son once. It seemed like he had outcast him unknowingly.
King Dawn later returned to the Fairiel Kingdom with a fae's wings in his hand covered completely in fae blood. It launched fear and disgust among the Kingdom. The fae felt betrayed when they heard that one of their own had been slaughtered by the son of the king.
King Dawn challenged his father when he stepped into the Kingdom. So the following week he and his father had a duel to which King Dawn played a nasty trick and killed him in cold blood. I still remember it as clear as day.
He raised his father's head and declared "You left me to perish but now you are the disposable one." It shocked the Kingdom, no the entire continent. No one had expected King Faust to lose. He was older and weaker, yes, but King Dawn had no well-earned traits. Foul play was suspected but now that King Dawn had taken over there was nothing they could do.
Four years passed and a certain fae challenged King Dawn to a duel. She accused him of murdering her own daughter who had gone out in the same forest King Faust had taken his son, where she disappeared and never returned.
King Dawn was enraged that she would bring up acts that happened so long ago. If she had known why hadn't she spoken? He claimed she was delusional and was in it for the wealth she could claim if she could turn everyone against him.
Nevertheless, she had challenged him to a duel and now he had to go through with it. However, the night before the duel was said to happen she died. King Dawn said that she had fallen ill and passed away in the night. Everyone knew that was a lie and this was another one of King Dawn's tricks. Still, they had no evidence and there was nothing they could do yet again.
The faes had begun to fight against King Dawn and tried to reprimand him for his actions but he simply sent soldiers their way and enslaved the entirety of the fae colony. They were left with nothing to their name.
At night while King Dawn slept someone broke into his treasury and stole his most valuable prize. The fae wings. When he awoke he was furious and sent people to find the thief. When they did they brought her in. A wingless fae was brought in. To which she attacked King Dawn and left him with an unforgivable scar, making him look hideous.
The fae had escaped luckily and disappeared but in the process she had angered King Dawn to the point of no return. He set fire to villages and tore down Kingdoms in search of his missing eye and wings.
He had finally made his way towards the Magdalla Mages, something he'd come to regret. The mages were not weak nor afraid and they fought with everything they had. I, Mage Devereaux, was at the front lines of the battle.
We fought for over two decades before we began to realize it was futile. King Dawn would stop at nothing to get what he wanted and there was no negotiating with him.
He threatened families, took lives and did it all with no shame. The wingless fae who had stolen his eye returned and admitted that King Dawn had done more than murder a poor child.
