I stood in a the cabin of a cruise ship, the door thrown wide open and the frothy dark blue sea churning below me.
With me stood my childhood best friend Eliza, her mum, and her little brother Rory. Also with us was Luca and David, two boys who I had known briefly as a child.
Curious about the water, David leans out of the doorframe, wind whipping in his hair. But there is no handle for him to grab, and his body tumbles off the ship. It takes a long time for him to fall before his body hits the swirling water. He is so far down that he is the size of an ant.
We all clutch each other in fear. Will one of us go next?
Through the door behind us bursts my friend Arthur and his mum, demanding to know what's going on.
Seeing the situation, Arthurs mum throws herself off of the ship in an attempt to rescue David. Now the pair of them are being thrown back and forth by the dark, unforgiving waves as the rest of us stand and watch in shock.

Me and Eliza are back in our primary school playground, discussing the event.
She is crying. Her mum and Rory ended up going overboard as well, and the sea was unforgiving.
Me and another friend attempt to comfort her, and my friend decides to point out that her house overlooks the school playground, pointing to the large pink hotel towering above us. This does not help, as Eliza continues sobbing into my shoulder.
