This feeling was love

  Elias's Pov

      Immediately the sun rose the next morning, we continued our journey back to Velander. I rode my horse with the princess seated in front of me. We moved quickly, we had to reach Velander as soon as possible, It wasn't over.

They would come after the princess and I have never been scared in my life, but I was anxious now. I knew I couldn't let the princess be taken away from me. However, I wasn't as strong as I used to be and my men also had reduced even more. We weren't even up to 50 anymore.

I was a selfish general, a selfish leader. I don't know but I have been feeling different emotions I usually never felt. I also knew a wicked man like me did not deserve the princess but she was safest with me.

Raymond, her good for nothing father was being blackmailed into giving his daughter into marriage with the younger prince of Aderia, to join both kingdoms together in alliance, but actually, they were going to claim Velander as theirs.

Although I had killed Andrew, they had already tied the red knot, signifying the marriage was done, which meant the alliance had happened.

Asides that, I had killed Andrew and I was the general of Velander which meant war between both kingdoms.

Without me and my men, Velander would be easily overthrown, but they needed the princess, to take over. They needed her to make her father surrender and her father also needed her, so that the king of Aderia would not expose his secret.

The secret? I still haven't found out. I had stayed behind at Aderia just to find this out, but no one seemed to know what the secret actually was, I had also stayed back to make sure no one was after the princess. Yet.

....

    We reached Velander very late at night and because my residence was close to the borders, we reached it quickly. All my men were tired and I for one felt tired too, something I don't usually feel.

This was bad. At these tough times, I needed to be strong for both my men and the princess especially. If I went down then they'll all go down. I climbed down the horse and then lifted the princess off and set her on her feet. She stared up at me in....... admiration?

It warmed my stomach but I could see that she was tired. I picked her off the ground in bridal style and turned to face my men who were already getting down from their horses .

" Take a rest everyone and..... Eat" I said stiffly before turning away and heading for my chamber. I was never nice to my men  but now that I felt emotions and knew that I wasn't being nice, I wanted to fix it.

     I walked into my chamber with the princess in my arms, I walked into my room. It was dark and I realized I couldn't see as much as I could before. I laid her down on my bed gently.

" I'll turn on the candles princess" I say softly before moving away from her to turn on the candles. After that, I returned to her. I could tell she wasn't asleep but was close to it.
" Would you stay with me?" She muttered in her sleepy state.
" I will, so go to sleep" I responded, gently petting her head. She hummed and soon she was asleep. I wouldn't let anything happen to her.

I have never worried this much all my life but I knew the dangers. I cherished this woman like I've never cherished anything. I loved her, this feeling was love. I knew I was in.. love with her.

Although she was the reason I was loosing all of my powers, I wasn't mad about it. She was making me .... Human. I don't know how she's doing it. I've always thought it was impossible but it was happening before my eyes.

However, I knew I wouldn't live for long because this wasn't supposed to happen. I've stopped seeing my mother in my dreams and it unsettled me, I couldn't understand anything happening.

One thing that hasn't gone but instead Intensified is the heartaches. It claws and burns constantly.

I stayed up that night, watching the most beautiful woman to exist on my mind, sleep on my bed. I could not loose her, I would not loose her.

     The sun rose and I could hear my men awake . I looked at the still sleeping princess before standing up. I walked out of the room and out of my chamber. Theodosius was right outside,he stood straighter on seeing me.

" Where's the palace guard?" I asked seriously.
" He's with the warriors at the training grounds. He asked to join the training" he reported.

I hummed and started walking towards our training grounds but then I stopped.

" I need to find out what secret Raymond is hiding" I stated, he nodded.
" The princess will hear no word about any of this" I added and again, he nodded. I contacted walking.

Getting to the training grounds, I looked at all of my men. They were not much but they were strong and determined men. They had committed all of their lives into protecting Velander. They were better than me. They've had feelings all this while but still willingly put themselves in line.

I clenched my jaw as I stared at them. They had injuries and scars from many years of war. Including the ones from the unnecessary battles I lead them to. And now they were putting themselves in front against their emperor to protect the princess.

I turned my gaze to Memwel. He had also risked his life for the princess and was now volunteering to become a warrior. I on the other hand was just driven by the curse and hatred.

These men were real men. I sighed.

" Today. We rest. Treat yourselves, we have a lot ahead of us* I say and notice some of their shoulders relax.

I'm the worst. I know. Work has not been giving me a single time for anything else that's why I have not updated all this while.
