The light breeze brushes the contours of my nose, the lines of my face. It rests on my skin, giving it an ancestral serenity, a glow in feeling nature. The blades of grass rise upwards like moving confetti.
My eyes closed, taking in the smell of the countryside, lying against the tall grass. A little sleepy, silent, for once not caring about anything but myself and how I feel.

We left this morning, Mae-Ok couldn't wait to get away from the hustle of the city, and now here we are in a cabin by the lake, surrounded by flora, with the sounds of animals coming from a farm not far away. Hana has gone for a hike in the surrounding area together with Mo-Tak, while I stayed close to the hut.
Mae-Ok is inside preparing lunch, happy to be here.

We are exactly in Chungcheong province.

A land where nature and tradition intertwine in harmony. The region is a tapestry of mountains, rivers, and fertile plains.
Majestic mountains rise over the horizon, and I seem to understand why Mae-Ok is in love with this place.
It's forests are vibrant and so is the blue Geum River through the landscape, nourishing the expansive rice fields below.

And I can't lie, I even forgot him too, if only for a moment.
But then, as of late, it always comes back. My mind, once a refuge, is now a battlefield—exhausted, troubled, haunted. His presence is like a poison, seeping into every corner of my thoughts, twisting them into knots I cannot untangle.
This relentless dizziness, this damned disarray... it all bears Adrian’s name.

🕊“Mun! Mun, are you there?”

Wi-Gen’s familiar voice pulls me from the spiral of my thoughts. I blink, disoriented for a moment before I respond.

“Yes, Wi-Gen? Did something happen?”

🕊“The council wants to talk to you. Can you come now?”

For a moment, I want to refuse, to stay here in this bubble of peace where the world outside doesn’t matter. But duty calls, and with a reluctant nod, I agree.
“Yes, I’ll come.”
Closing my eyes, I place a hand over my heart.

In a heartbeat, I’m transported to the Yung, the ethereal boundary between the afterlife and the world of the living.
The familiar white building stands before me, immaculate as ever, untouched by time or decay. Light streams in through large windows, bathing the room in a sense of purity and redemption. It’s a place for souls that have earned their peace, far removed from the darkness that festers in the realms of evil spirits.

“Mun! It’s good to see you. This way!”
Wi-Gen’s voice echoes from the threshold of a large archway leading into the main hall. Inside, a long white table stretches before me, where the others are already seated.
Kim Gi-ran, Mo-Tak’s Yung partner, is there. She’s a spirit of rigid principles, her fury often directed at those who break the rules—people like me.
