"You agreed to WHAT?!" My eyes widen as I watch Lara stuff some of her things into a suitcase.
"How many times do I need to repeat myself?" She groans.
"You're telling me that you WILLINGLY agreed to live with Archer for the entire summer?"
"Travis can't afford the lawsuit." She shrugs.
"But you two have a...complicated history."
"Yes, thank you for stating the obvious! Now, will you stop standing there like an idiot and help me!" She snaps while pointing at a mountain of clothes in the corner of her room.
"You know, when you text someone 'SOS' it's usually meant for actual emergencies, not this!"
"Please, Grey!"
"Why don't you have Lyra help you? She's better at this shit than I am." I mumble while picking up a dress off of the floor.
"She didn't tell you?"
"Tell me what?"
"She had some kind of family emergency last night, apparently something happened to Brynn." She says and I freeze.
"W- what happened?"
"Not sure but she ended up in the hospital."
"The hospital?"
She immediately stops her packing and turns to face me.
"Are you sure you're not suffering with hearing loss?" She asks while tapping my forehead.
"Yes, I'm sure- where is Brynn now?"
"Probably resting at home."
"Is someone taking care of her?"
"Probably her mom and Ryat."
A bit of relief washes over me before I slowly nod.
I knew I shouldn't have left yesterday!
I should have just stayed even if she begged me to leave.
Maybe she would have been okay if I would have just stayed with her.
"Okay, which pair of heels?" She asks, holding up three pairs of black heels that look fucking identical.
"Uh- the middle ones?"
"Are you dumb? Those are horrendous!"
"Then why would you- never mind." I groan.
"If you're ever gonna get a girlfriend, you need to be able to do things like this." She yells from her closet.
"Then I'll just stay single forever! Problem solved."
"You seriously would rather stay single than help a girl choose a pair of shoes?"
