"I can't believe that fucker is gonna be my brother-in-law!" Lyra whines while angrily stabbing her salad with her fork.
"I can't believe you two have to act like you're in a relationship." I snort and they both send me a glare.
"And whose fault is that?" Grey scoffs.
"WHAT?! Not mine! I wasn't the one who told you to volunteer as fucking tribute!" I defend, chucking one of my cherry tomatoes at him.
God, I hate tomatoes.
"I was trying to be a good friend!"
"And you are one...I just don't know how long this whole fake relationship has to last." Lyra sighs.
"Just till after the wedding. As long as you two act like you're in love, Brynn and Sharron will leave you alone."
"I doubt that, I'm sure Sharron will somehow manage to create some kind of idea that Brynn is better because she got engaged first," Lyra mutters.
"Why do you suddenly care about what she thinks?" Grey asks.
"I don't! I just don't want her going around telling the world about how I'm just in a relationship and her REAL daughter managed to bag the bachelor of the decade."
My brow raises as she continues abusing her poor salad and chews on the leaves loudly.
I look over at Grey and we both put our salads down, suddenly losing our appetites.
"Right...well just be happy you're not the sister who's stuck dealing with Ryat and his bipolarness," I say.
"Speaking of the devil! He had the audacity to ask me to make things right with Brynn! Like why don't you tell your bitch ass fiancé, leave me alone."
"I don't see the problem," Grey says cautiously and Lyra glares at him.
"Did you forget everything she did to me? To us?"
"I mean I guess but you weren't an angel in the situation either." He says and internally cringe knowing Lyra is about to go off on him.
"BECAUSE SHE DESERVED IT GREY! Did you forget how she destroyed my science fair project after I spent months working on it? Or how she purposely ruined Lara's dress at prom all because she was wearing the same shade of red? Or how about how she told the entire school all your secrets after she catfished you?"
Grey's mouth immediately shuts before he slumps back into his chair, his face heating up a bit.
Poor Grey was definitely not the handsome and confident guy he is today.
In high school, he was the biggest nerd and was so awkward around everyone since he went through puberty a bit later than everyone else.
Guys would tease him and girls would fuck with his feelings.
