Funeral place

Isabella

The air around me felt thick and oppressive like I was wading through a dense fog that clung to my skin. Shadows lurked at the edges of my vision, but I couldn't focus on them—my heart was racing, a sense of dread clawing at me from within. I looked around, trying to make sense of where I was, but everything was distorted, twisted into something dark and unfamiliar.

And then I saw him—Damon. But not the Damon I knew now. This was Damon as he had been, human, with that familiar cocky grin that always had a way of making me feel safe, no matter what was going on around us. Relief washed over me, and I started toward him, my feet moving faster as I tried to close the distance between us.

"Damon," I called out, my voice trembling, but he didn't respond. He just stood there, looking at me with an expression I couldn't quite read. It was as if he was waiting for something, something terrible that I couldn't prevent.

"You can't save me, Isabella," Damon said, his voice flat and emotionless. The words hit me like a punch to the gut, knocking the breath out of me. I stopped in my tracks, my heart hammering in my chest as I stared at him, trying to understand what he was saying.

"What are you talking about? I'm right here," I pleaded, but he shook his head, a sad smile tugging at the corners of his mouth.

"You'll always be too late," he said, his voice echoing in the darkness that surrounded us. I tried to move closer, to reach out to him, but my feet felt like they were stuck in quicksand, dragging me down, holding me back.

And then, before my eyes, Damon began to change. His warm, human features started to blur, melting away as something cold and sinister took their place. His eyes darkened, the light in them extinguished as he was swallowed by the shadows. The Damon I knew, the man I loved, was disappearing, and in his place was a creature—one that was all too familiar.

"No," I whispered, horror creeping into my voice as I watched the transformation. "Damon, please—don't do this."

But it was too late. Human Damon faded into a vampire's shadow, his form twisting and contorting until he was nothing but a dark silhouette. "You couldn't keep me safe, Isabella," he whispered, his voice now cold and distant, sending shivers down my spine.

"I've pulled you into this world," I choked out, tears blurring my vision as I reached out for him, desperate to pull him back. "Into the world of vampires, when you were supposed to live a peaceful life, a peaceful human life. But I came along and pulled you into this whole mess."

The shadow that had once been Damon seemed to pulse with malevolent energy, growing darker and more ominous. "I'm lost to you now, Isabella," his human voice echoed, but it was faint, like a memory slipping through my fingers. "I'm lost to you."
