In the hush of dawn's embrace, Isabella stirred from her restless slumber with a jolt, her awake mind ablaze with an insomnia which refused to abate and her eyes blinking in the early morning light filtering through the curtains. The weight of the early morning pressed down upon her, suffocating her with thoughts dancing like shadows in the darkness. Determined to quell the restlessness, she stumbled out of bed slowly into the muted light of the morning with a heavy sigh and trudged downstairs to the kitchen.
Even though the body was resilient, there was only so much Isabella could handle before her body reached its boiling point. Whether or not it was chronic illness she felt as if she was experiencing, she was cognizant of the fact she was totally over the symptoms included in the bond. While she was stressed out by being weak from the abnormal symptoms and not knowing what to do about it, Isabella wasn't frustrated or anxious by overworking herself daily. Her stress came from a supernatural sickness, not from having no passion to do anything, so there was no way it was a normal burnout.
The physical exhaustion Isabella endured manifested itself in the form of warning signs gradually occurring as bizarre ailments in succession to Elijah being neutralized by a dagger, in contrast to people who felt mentally and emotionally exhausted may not know they felt it since their warning signs appeared prior to their realization they were mentally and emotionally drained.
It wasn't as if Isabella could compare it to this matter or even would compare it to her situation considering the pain she and others experienced were serious—as much as they were different—but she did experience some of the same symptoms of mental and emotional exhaustion to make her think of it as a burnout. Also, other women didn't have an original vampire as a male companion whose brother is trying to help the woman his brother is soul tied with get him back so she wouldn't have to suffer any further.
Isabella knew all the maladies would disappear as soon as Elijah was awake, but all she felt was easily fatigued from either sleeping too much or too little from her dreams and the amount of pain she borne. She was naturally an early riser no matter how early she went to bed and how well she slept, she now woke up every morning super exhausted from the fatigue she already had been feeling.
Other than the sharp pain in her chest, the blood frequently dripping down her nose, and the lethargy no amount of coffee or sleep could fix, other side effects had arisen this time around to add to her suffering. Symptoms included a fever, fainting spells, and regurgitating blood from either coughing or throwing up from the nausea. Honestly to Isabella, this was just more of an intense version of being on her period and otherwise just felt like her nor when she was hitting the rag.
Getting affected by the tiniest things made her tear up easily, sometimes losing the ability to cope with this challenging situation as she went through the day doing the things she needed to be doing. It only intensified the stress and made her teary eyed from all the pain she was holding inside, her rage directed toward the daily tasks she held out was really about being livid at Stefan.
