Ratatoskr, Fraxinus airship: 5 hours later.

A red haired girl frowned as the vice commander finished his report.

Her mood had already dampened with the early wake up call from Fraxinus, now this?

With a cold look, she dismissed the simping Kannazuki, even kicking him off the podium when he tried to spout nonsense. Although the action merely made him more satisfied.

Ignoring the masochistic lolicon, Kotori sank deep in thought.

In one night, one of the three prominent gangs in Tengu city was wiped out. Their bodies intact, but all were found with their hearts crushed.

No ordinary human could do this, even those wizards aren't capable of such a feat.

Spirits?

Impossible.

Through all the recorded spirit data, only [Diva], [Witch], and the currently sealed [Princess] were somewhat capable of doing so.

But it couldn't be that, no matter how much the evidence points to it.

The reason was simple.

They hadn't detected Reiryoku signals.

It was a known fact to Ratatoskr' higher ups.

When a spirit appears and uses their abilities, they unconsciously release Reiryoku. That was also the basis of their strength levels.

The absence of Reiryoku meant that a spirit was not involved.

Moreover, the cameras there were destroyed and the security room destroyed.

Whoever did this knows the workings of human technology. They must have not wanted their identity revealed.

They even went as far as killing everyone, their terrified face was a clear indicator that this person- entity showed no remorse.

Truly a terrifying new factor.

Although she reached this conclusion, the reality of this was that Cid had embarrassingly tripped on his long cloak and thus decided to destroy all evidence of him doing so.

An eminence in Shadow was cool, and falling ungracefully was not at all, cool.

Getting back on the overthinking Kotori, she had come up with nothing but mere theories and baseless facts.

One of which, was slightly off the mark had she known the truth.

This new factor must be an existence far greater than spirits, a being unparalleled and without rival.....

Though she thought it was cringe, Cid would say otherwise. It was really a poetic moment.

Moving on, Kotori shook her head.

It was close to impossible to figure out the motives of an unknown with the scarce information they had on hand.

While the report was a crucial issue, there was another that caught her eye.

Holding a yellow folder, she looked at the picture of a boy with relatively "average" looks, having an indifferent expression as he ate some burger.

Within the file, there was only one page, containing one word.

[ Unknown ]

She sighed, closing it and replaying the events of that short milisecond frame using the abnormally large monitor down below.

The boy on the monitor was 100% Cid Kagenou. This short 1 frame shot was taken a few seconds before he had killed that lowly bandit- or thief.

Kotori then leaned back on her chair, Kannazuki—who had visible injuries—shook his head seriously.
