Grace
I woke up with a terrible headache and my nose still hurting. I stumbled between the dark room to the kitchen. I need to take a pill for the pain.
Everyone was there. Reed, Jessica and Layne turned their heads to look at me. They had been talking but they stopped when they saw me.
"I'm fine." I said before everyone could say something to me. "I just needed to take my pill."
"Grace." I heard Reed saying behind me.
I didn't want to talk to him. I wasn't mad at him. Breaking my nose hadn't been his entire fault.
"Not now, Reed." I murmured.
Jessica started looking through her purse looking for the pill bottle that was still in her purse from tonight.
"I–I want to go home."
"Are you sure, Grace? You could spend the day here." Jessica said immediately.
I shook my head. "No, thank you for everything. But I want to go home."
"I can take you." Reed said softly.
"Uh." Layne doubted.
"It's fine."
I picked up my things and followed Reed to his car. We spent most of the drive in silence but I caught him glazing a few times at me.
"I'm fine." I mumbled knowing what he was thinking.
"It doesn't look fine, Grace."
"It's not as bad as it looks."
"Stop lying to me. I already feel bad enough." He said focused on the road.
I could sense his frustration and guilt. We drove in silence and you could cut the tension with a knife.
"Call me if you need anything, alright? I promise I'll be here in two minutes." He said after parking the car in front of my building.
I nodded before getting out of his car. I could feel his gaze in my back while I opened the door and got inside the building.
Sophia was still in the room and I knew it hadn't been a good idea to come here. As soon as I opened the door she looked at me with wide eyes and her mouth opened. "I thought they were joking when they said Reed broke your nose."
How did she know already?
"Good morning to you too." I mumbled taking off my shoes.
"It doesn't seem like you are having a good morning. You look awful."
"Thank you, Sophia."
"It's the truth." She laughed out loud. "So Mr. Perfect isn't as perfect as you expected."
I ignored her again and got in bed. The pain was killing me and I wanted to spend the day sleeping.
"So...does this mean Reed and you are not together anymore?" She asked with a teasing smile.
"I don't want to talk about it," I mumbled against my pillow.
Sophia finally left me alone and I heard the door open and closed an hour later. She probably was going out tonight and I was happy that I was spending the night by myself.
