The trio strolled down the street, chatting about trivial things as the late afternoon sun cast a warm glow over the neighborhood. Haerin and Minji were engrossed in a lighthearted conversation about school events, while Danielle clung tightly to Haerin's arm, her laughter occasionally breaking through their chatter. Dani's attempts to dominate the conversation were growing increasingly desperate.

Just as they reached the corner, a motorbike roared past at an alarming speed, narrowly missing Haerin. Minji's reflexes kicked in, and she grabbed Haerin, pulling her safely to her side.

Haerin's POV

Minji's swift action caused me to bump into her. My heart raced as I realized how close I had been to disaster.

"Guess I was just about to meet the Grim Reaper," I mumbled under my breath, shaken but trying to play it cool.

"Are you okay?" Minji asked, her voice trembling slightly. Her hands rested firmly on my shoulders as she scanned me for injuries. Her gaze was so intense, so full of concern, that for a moment, I forgot the world around me.

Her eyes were mesmerizing. She's really pretty...

"I think I'm fine," I replied, but as I shifted my weight, a sharp pain shot through my ankle. "Actually... ouch. I think I sprained my ankle."

Minji immediately knelt to inspect my foot. She examined it gently, her brows furrowed in concentration. "Yeah, it's swollen. You must've twisted it," she said, rising back to her feet.

She looked distraught, nervously picking at her nails. "I'm so sorry, Haerin. If I hadn't grabbed you like that—"

Before she could spiral into guilt, I reached out and clasped her hands in mine.

3rd Person POV

"No way," Haerin said, a soft smile breaking through her pained expression. "You literally saved me. If it weren't for you, I'd probably be in the hospital—or worse."

Minji let out a small laugh, visibly relieved. Their eyes met, lingering in a moment of unspoken connection, until a loud, exaggerated groan interrupted them.

"Guys, hello?" Danielle piped up, rolling her eyes dramatically. "I'm right here. Watching you two feels like I've accidentally walked into a cheesy K-drama."

Minji chuckled awkwardly, stepping back. Dani, however, wasn't done. She grabbed Haerin's arm to pull her closer, seemingly staking a claim. Haerin winced, letting out a soft hiss of pain.

"Danielle! Be careful!" Minji snapped, her concern for Haerin bubbling to the surface again. "She's injured!"

"I-I didn't mean to—" Dani began, but Minji cut her off, turning to Haerin.

"Let me carry you on my back. I'll take you home," Minji offered.

"Are you sure?" Haerin hesitated, unsure about the suggestion.

Minji nodded firmly, crouching down in front of her. "Hop on."

Haerin obliged, wrapping her arms around Minji's neck as the taller girl hoisted her up effortlessly. Minji carried her with ease, her confident strides contrasting sharply with Danielle's flustered expression.

"You can go home, Dani. I'll take care of Haerin," Minji said with a casual wave.

"Absolutely not!" Dani protested, stomping after them. "I'm tagging along."

As they walked, Minji kept up her usual jokes, drawing soft giggles from Haerin, who leaned against her shoulder. Danielle, however, trailed behind, arms crossed and visibly sulking.
