TONIGHT WAS THE NIGHT us slytherin's had been looking forward too.
i was informed that every year, on the night of halloween, my friends would host an annual party.
although none of the other houses are, let's say, fond of us, its known that for this one night, and every other night that slytherin hosts a party, all our hate is put aside so we can all have fun.
that doesn't mean there isn't fights and arguments, or even that everyone is actually invited by us, but it's chosen to be ignored. besides, everyone is too drunk to realise who is who, anyway.
"what do you think?" i glanced towards the dark haired boy, giving his pumpkin a once over before nodding.
"it's cute, nott," i replied, looking to the others with a grimace, "your hands are gonna stink, y'know?"
blaise grinned, "what's up, malfoy?" he raised his pumpkin-gut-covered hands in the air, "afraid of a bit of pumpkin guts?"
"who's on for a gut-fight?" lorenzo smirked, already beginning to advance towards me and pansy with his pumpkin.
"there's no way in hell i'm doing that," pansy shut him down immediately.
"i agree," i paused, glaring at the boy who continued forward, "come near me and ill curse you." i threatened.
lorenzo raised his free arm in surrender, backing away with a grin. "my bad,"
i shook my head at the boy and turned towards pansy, watching as she hung a skeleton above the fireplace. i did the same, adding a matching one on the either side.
i grabbed the small candles from the table and placed them above the fire, while pansy added the fake, sparkling pumpkins beside them.
taking a step back, we admired our work, looking around the common room that we'd all spent hours decorating. webs, fake spiders and candles floated near the ceiling, with fairy lights going all around the place, the orange and black balloons were be brought out later, and small bats were often seen flying around before they found the darkest corner to huddle up in.
"looks great," i said, nudging pansy with a grin, "we should do this for a living," pansy smirked.
"i know, right?"
taking a last look around, we knew that all the decoration was done, and headed over to the boys, seeing them all finishing up with their pumpkins.
"how's it going, boys?" getting a few groans in response, i only smirked at them, "come on, it's halloween! have a little festive spirit,"
"why don't you help me with this pumpkin, rora?" draco spoke, sarcastically, motioning to the pumpkins with his hands. i rolled my eyes, "that's what i thought,"
"they look good," pansy complimented, her eyebrows raised, "you were helpful for once. i'm proud," she grinned.
"shove off, parkinson," theodore grumbled, dropping the knife he used to carve his pumpkin into the table, "i'm done. you happy?"
we looked at his pumpkin and nodded, "yep. thanks for the help, nott," i winked and got a sarcastic smile back.
"i'm headed to the hall," mattheo announced, setting his knife onto the table and glancing at us, "you coming?"
the boys nodded at once, all abandoning their spots with a cheer. i decided not to mention that half of them had pieces of pumpkin guts on their clothes and in their hair, thinking its best to let them find out for themselves.
i sighed, "what can a little food hurt, pansy?" with that, we followed behind the boys out the common room.
the hall was filled with many students and professors, all talking and feasting on the large amounts of festive food before them. i will say, they'd done a good job decorating this place— but my ego believed that me and pansy could do better.
