IT TOOK A WEEK for the talk of what happened in my defence against the dark arts class to die down.

my friends had also (thankfully) stopped mentioning it, but i could see them casting me glances every now and then. i knew they talked about it when i wasn't there, but i wasn't all that bothered.

professor snape had pulled me aside about a day or two ago to talk about it, though, much to my dismay.

"professor moody has told me that during your class in DADA, you countered the imperious curse cast by him. is that true?"

"yes, professor."

"interesting," he paused. i was nearly bored to death hearing his monotone voice, and had to force myself to not walk away, "that is quite impressive, miss malfoy. you're father would be pro—"

"would he?" i scoffed, "last i checked, he was ready to avada kadavra me once i got kicked out of llvermory," snape raised his eyebrows.

"don't you realise the severity of what you've done, miss malfoy?" i sighed, nodding slightly, "i'll notify your parents at once— they will want to know this,"

"do whatever you want, professor," i rolled my eyes, impatiently, "can i go now?"

snape glanced around the hall, and i watched with curiosity as he began whispering, "if you wish to learn more of how to counter the curse, meet me in my class at 5:00 every thursday,"

and that is how i found myself wandering the dungeons in search for the professor every thursday, just as he suggested. of course, i was told to keep quiet about our little meetings, as he didn't want word to get out about what he or moody were teaching.

i kept my mouth shut— which he soon voiced his surprise about. he half expected me to tell my friends, and as much as i wanted too, i knew that keeping this a secret would be better for me.

i knew that my friends wouldn't shut up about it, and not to be rude, but i found their constant questions quite annoying.

"miss malfoy?" the deep voice snapped me from my thoughts. shaking my head, i nodded to the professor before me.

"i'm ready," in a second, i was in a trance— almost a dream-like-state, in which i struggled to control my senses. snape waited for a moment.

walk to the door.

i tried resisting the demand, clenching my fists but huffed when my feet started moving before i could realise it. "don't give in, malfoy,"

listening to snape's words, i bit my lip and thought to myself,

stop walking. stop walking.

although my feet continued to move, my steps were much slower and smaller.

keep walking.

much to my frustration, my feet started back at their normal pace as i headed towards the door.

stop. stop. stop.

i heaved out a sigh as the spell was lifted, and i quickly regained my senses. i turned to snape with a defeated expression, "i can't do it,"

"yes, you can," i went to reply but snape cut me off, "you've done it before, you can do it again," he paused, "remember, malfoy. you must be stronger than the pull,"

nodding, i walked back to my original spot. closing my eyes, i felt the same ripple go through my body and i froze.

stomp your right foot.
