SAGE CHANG WAS stuck in the middle. Meredith and Derek still weren't talking unless it was about Zola. She knew it was killing Meredith not to talk to him, but she couldn't fix things because he was icing her out completely.

Cristina and Owen also weren't talking, because Owen thought she got the abortion. But she didn't, but she also couldn't bring herself to tell him.

And since it was clear Sage was siding with both of them instead of their husbands, things at work were a little awkward, especially since she was constantly on Owen's service.

She was also caught in the middle of Meredith and Alex, who still weren't talking. She tried to get them to make up, but that didn't work out so well so Alex told her to forget it. He was living at the hospital now, because he had nowhere to go.

She also wasn't spending as much time with Jackson anymore because, even though Meredith insisted she didn't need it, she needed help caring for Zola and Sage wanted to help her.

Being caught in the middle of everyone was exhausting, but somehow, someway, she was managing.

Today was their first day of their fifth and final year of residency. Sage was both excited and a little nervous, because at the end of this year, they would take the most important exam of their lives. The boards.

Sage smiled as she, Meredith, Cristina, and Zola entered the hospital.

"I'll see you later, babygirl." Sage smiled at Zola, who was being held be Meredith. Zola giggled, and grabbed a strand of Sage's now blonde hair. Sage smiled, kissed Zola on the cheek, before saying goodbye to Meredith and Cristina and heading to the locker room.
