I'm in the Burrow.
Actually, the like. 1000 acres of land outside that they have, looking up at the stars with Fred, who keeps asking me what random star constellations are.
'I don't f/cking know, Freddie' I sigh 'I know THAT one's Cassiopeia, and no, Cassie isn't named after a star, I already asked, like, 8 years ago'
He smiles at me 'how come you aren't named after a star? That's a family thing, isn't it? And you are a star, I don't get it'
What's he playing?
'Umm, probably because my dad didn't like his family' I sigh 'but I'm named Angelique, which is French-'
'—and your middle name is Regina.. after.. your uncle?'
Oh yeah
'Are you stalking me? I never mention my middle name'
'You mentioned it one time in 6th year, it was at the Yule Ball, I remember'
Stalking'Do you ever think about the future?' he asked suddenly, sitting up, his voice quieter than usual.
Huh..??
I blinked, caught off guard by the question. 'I've been trying not to think too far ahead. It feels... uncertain, ya know?'
He nodded, his expression thoughtful. 'Yeah, I get that. But I've been thinking about it. A lot'
I turn to face him, searching his face for some clue as to where this was going. 'What do you mean, Fred?'He hesitated for a moment, then took a deep breath, pulling something small and shiny from his pocket.
My heart skipped a beat when I realized what it was
No way..'I've seen too much to wait around' he said, his voice steady but filled with emotion. 'After everything we've been through... I know what I want. And I want you. For the rest of my life'
The world (and my heart) seemed to stop for a moment. Fred Weasley, the boy who could always make me laugh, was..proposing..?Tears welled up in my eyes as I stared at him, speechless. He smiled nervously, rubbing the back of his neck the way he always did when he was unsure of himself.
"I'm not saying it'll be easy,' he added quickly, I assume that HE assumed something bad from my silence. 'But I know it's worth it. I want to wake up with you every day, to laugh with you, to build.. ya know.'
Oh my daysAll I could do was nod, the words stuck in my throat.
Am I staring? Finally, I found something to say. 'Uh huh' I nod a little more 'yes'
His smile lit up his whole face, and before I knew it, he was pulling me into his arms, lifting me off the ground in a spinning hug. We laughed, the sound filling the air, echoing all the way back to the house.
Once he set me down, he slipped the ring onto my finger. It fit perfectly, as if it had always belonged there.
'We'll figure it out,' he whispered, pressing a kiss to my forehead. 'Together.'
That's good enough for me
More than that.I nodded, resting my head against his chest, feeling the steady beat of his heart. For the first time in a long while, the future didn't seem so scary. With Fred by my side, it felt like something to look forward to.
I'm getting married..
**
'Yeah, yeah, if you're looking forward to a shocked reaction when you get back, you're not getting it, mum knows, dad knows, Percy, George-'
Gosh, who doesn't know?
'Bill, Bill doesn't know, because I thought he'd tell you, but he seemed to think I was gonna do it anyways' he looks like his smile is stuck 'and for once, I didn't need Ginny's help, she just thought I was buying you another basic ring, so make sure to send her an owl, or a text, or a Howler-' the corners of his eyes crease 'Oh, I'm sure Ron's already done it, he's always suspicious of me, but you can text Ginny, and Hermione, and Cassie, and Angelina—'
I look up at him, slightly amused
'What?? Can't I be excited about my future wife?'
'Oh shut up'
We've BASICALLY been engaged for years now.
..
'Ya know, I kind of even asked your dad, that time at number 12..' he wraps an arm around me 'he said he'd love to see it.. and I'm sure he will'
Fred points to a star
Sirius.
