Ray's POV:

I wake up, yawning, I'm still sleepy. It seems like I've slept for 10 minutes but really its been 10 hours. I'm still jet lagged, evidently. I don't know how Kris does it- we both barely slept and have the bed-head look yet it looks good on her. She walks out of her room wearing a red and navy blue plaid shirt with a pair of faded denim shorts, hair in a messy braid and she's already attracted the attention of half the guys in this place. I groan, inwardly. And then she says- we need to stay away from each other for a while, so our parents don't flip out on us. I'm a teenage guy, believe me it isn't easy to control my impulse to want to kiss her.

"Kristen, wait up." I call out.

She turns around, an amused look on her face. "You look..." She trails off, giggling.

"Tired? Disheveled? Grumpy? Like a zombie?" I suggest.

"I was gonna say 'like you need more sleep' but those work." She says, laughing.

I start smiling immediately, all traces of grumpiness disappearing, and all just because of Kristen's laugh.

We walk to our parents, making sure not to walk too close to each other.

"Please tell me you kids have made up." My mom says, shooting me a concerned look.

I bite my lip to keep from smiling. Heck yeah, I kissed her... is what I want to say. Instead I say:

"Yeah, luckily Kristen forgave me." And act abashed.

The parents all look relieved and go back to discussing politics.

Kristen and I grab orange juice, pain au chocolats and apples, sitting besides our parents.

Kristen initiates a game of footsie yet looks like a picture of innocence. And then, she kicks me.

Kristen's POV:

"Ouch, what was that for?" Ray whispers.

"I was bored." I bat my eyelashes, flirtatiously.

Ray shoots me a look.

"Whaat? Do you want me to go play footsie with other guys?" I ask him, knowing I have him now.

"Ughh.. You're evil, no of course not." He blushes.

"Do you wanna go swimming?" I ask, raising my voice purposely.

"That's a great idea, it'll give us some peace and quiet." My dad says.

I look at him, my eyes questioning.

"There seems to have been a lot of under-the-table-activity, like the creaking of chairs." He says, his eyes twinkling.

I grab Ray's hand and drag him away from there as fast as I can. Our parents sure caught on fast.

"Kristen." Ray says, out of breath.

"Yes Ray."

"Meet you at the pool." He grins, turning the key to his room.

I change into a summery aquamarine swimsuit, open back. I then grab my tote and throw sunscreen, magazines and other essentials into it. Lastly I put on a floral dress and run to the pool.

The afternoon is perfect: swimming with my boyfriend, eating ice cream, laughing so hard my stomach hurts, that is until I see... Brooke.
