The next day came with a sense of anticipation hanging in the air. I woke up early, still feeling the rush of emotions a few nights ago. The memory of Pablo's words at the beach, his heartfelt promises, and the weight of the new necklace resting against my skin were still fresh in my mind. As I got ready, I couldn't help but feel a mix of excitement and nerves for what lay ahead. Today was the start of something new—not just for me, but for us.
When I arrived at the training ground, everything felt different. It was like stepping into a new chapter of my life. The sun was just beginning to rise, casting a golden hue over the facilities as I walked in. The players were already warming up, laughter echoing through the field as they stretched and joked with one another. I spotted Pablo immediately; he was standing with Ansu, Balde, and Lamine, playfully nudging each other. The sight made me smile. Despite everything, it felt good to be back.
Xavi waved me over as soon as he saw me. He was standing near the benches, his expression serious but welcoming.
"Isabella, good morning," he greeted, his voice laced with a hint of urgency. "I'm glad you're here early. I wanted to go over some things about your new role."
I nodded, following him to a quieter corner of the training ground. As he started to speak, I could feel the weight of my new responsibilities settling in. Xavi outlined the expanded scope of my position—managing more players, coordinating with the medical staff, and even having a say in some of the team's rehabilitation strategies. It was everything I had worked for, but the magnitude of it all felt daunting.
"You've proven yourself time and time again," Xavi said, looking at me intently. "This isn't just a job anymore; it's an opportunity to lead, to set an example. I know you can handle it, but it's going to take everything you've got."
I nodded, absorbing his words. The challenge was real, but so was my determination. "I'm ready," I said, though a part of me was still grappling with the reality of this new chapter.
As we wrapped up, I saw Pablo watching us from a distance. His eyes met mine, and he gave me a small, reassuring smile. I knew he was trying to show his support without being overbearing, and I appreciated that more than I could put into words.
Training resumed, and I threw myself into my work. But as much as I tried to focus, my mind kept drifting back to the added pressures of my new role. I could feel the team watching me, and the unspoken expectation hung in the air. The players trusted me, and now, I had to prove to them—and myself—that I was capable of handling this next step.
During a short break, I grabbed a water bottle and sat on the bench, catching my breath. Pablo came over, his hair damp with sweat, and sat beside me.
"You look deep in thought," he said, nudging my shoulder gently. "Everything okay?"
"Just... trying to process everything," I admitted. "It's a lot to take in. I'm excited, but it's also kind of overwhelming, you know?"
Pablo nodded, his expression softening. "You're going to be amazing, Isa. Don't let the pressure get to you. And hey, I'm here for whatever you need—always."
His words were comforting, and for a moment, the world felt a little less heavy. We sat in comfortable silence, watching the others joke around, and I realized how grateful I was to have him by my side, even when things felt uncertain.
Later in the afternoon, the PR team announced that there would be a media event—a photoshoot featuring the players and some of the staff, including me. I wasn't thrilled about being in front of the cameras, but with my new position, it came with the territory. The photoshoot was set up near the pitch, with cameras flashing and journalists buzzing around.
I was used to being behind the scenes, ensuring the players were fit and healthy, not posing with them. The attention felt suffocating, but I tried to keep my composure. I stood beside Xavi and a few of the players, awkwardly adjusting my stance as the photographers directed us.
Out of the corner of my eye, I saw Pablo watching me from the sidelines, his expression one of quiet encouragement. He gave me a thumbs-up, and despite the chaos, I felt a surge of confidence. I could do this.
After what felt like an eternity, the photoshoot finally ended. I stepped off the set, feeling a mixture of relief and exhaustion. I spotted Pablo leaning against the railing, waiting for me. He reached out, gently squeezing my hand.
"See? That wasn't so bad," he teased, a playful grin on his face.
I rolled my eyes, laughing softly. "I'd rather be taping your ankles than posing for pictures."
He chuckled, pulling me closer. "You're doing great, Isa. Seriously."
As the day wound down, I found myself reflecting on everything that had happened. My new role, the increased visibility, and the challenges that came with it. It was all happening so fast, but with Pablo's steady presence and the support of my friends, I felt ready to face whatever came next.
That night, as I lay in bed, I thought about the journey that had brought me here. The ups and downs, the mistakes and the triumphs. It wasn't perfect, but it was ours. And no matter how overwhelming the future seemed, I knew I had the strength to handle it—with Pablo by my side, and with the unwavering belief that I was exactly where I was meant to be.
