Blair Potter moved through the corridors of Hogwarts with a sense of purpose that was absent from most of her peers. While the other students engaged in the mundane rituals of school life—quizzes, Quidditch matches, and idle chatter—Blair was consumed by a darker mission. She had spent the last week pouring over the book her mentor had given her, the ancient tome filled with spells and incantations that delved far beyond what was taught in even the most advanced Defence Against the Dark Arts classes. The pages were worn, as though passed down through generations, and the knowledge it contained was intoxicating.
The Slytherin common room had become too noisy for her liking, so she sought refuge in the library, where the dim lighting and the soft rustle of turning pages provided the perfect backdrop for her studies. Blair preferred her own company, and while she had a few acquaintances in her house, she found solace in solitude. It was easier to concentrate, easier to drown out the incessant prattling of the others.
Her favourite spot was a secluded corner near the Restricted Section, where she could lose herself in the intricacies of the Dark Arts without interruption. She had been practising non-verbal spells, honing her precision, and deepening her understanding of curses that could cause both pain and confusion. It was as if the book had unlocked something within her, a hidden potential that had been lying dormant, waiting for the right moment to be unleashed.
Blair's focus was so intense that she barely registered the presence of someone approaching her until a shadow fell across her book. She looked up to see Pansy Parkinson, her best friend, standing there with a worried expression.
"Blair," Pansy said in a hushed tone, glancing around to make sure they were alone. "You need to come quickly. Your brother's causing a scene in the courtyard. Draco's involved."
Blair felt a surge of irritation, not at Pansy, but at the mention of Harry. He had a knack for finding trouble, and his self-righteousness grated on her nerves like nails on a chalkboard. She closed the book with a sharp snap, the sound echoing through the quiet library.
"Of course he is," Blair muttered, her voice laced with disdain. "What's it about this time?"
Pansy shrugged, though her eyes reflected a hint of anxiety. "I'm not sure. Something about Draco's latest prank. It's getting heated, though. You know how your brother gets."
Blair rolled her eyes and rose from her seat, her hand instinctively going to the wand tucked inside her robes. "Leave it to Harry to pick a fight over something so trivial."
Pansy nodded in agreement, but there was a flicker of uncertainty in her gaze. "You don't have to go, Blair. You know Draco can handle himself."
Blair paused, considering her friend's words. She could stay, continue her studies, and let Draco deal with Harry on his own. But the thought of her brother—her perfect, infuriating brother—once again meddling where he wasn't wanted, pushed her into action.
"I'll deal with him," Blair said, her voice cold and resolute. "He needs to be reminded of his place."
Without waiting for Pansy to respond, Blair strode out of the library, her steps echoing through the silent corridors. The usual buzz of students was absent; most were either in class or enjoying the brief sunshine outside. The closer she got to the courtyard, the louder the commotion grew. Raised voices and the sharp crackle of magic carried through the air, signalling that things had escalated.
When Blair stepped into the courtyard, she immediately saw the familiar figures of Harry and Draco facing off, wands drawn. A small crowd had gathered, mostly Gryffindors and Slytherins, eager to see how this latest clash would unfold. Draco looked as he always did—cool, composed, though Blair could see the frustration simmering beneath his icy exterior. Harry, on the other hand, was visibly agitated, his wand hand trembling slightly as he glared at Draco.
