Chapter Two - Life and Death

"Liza! COME ON" "WE GOT TO GO" "LIZA" All their words fallen silent to my ears, buzzing has replaced their words as my eyes stay on the spot Jasper was just cheering in, now he's gone. I'm brought back by a scream, it's then I realise Finn dragged me away from the cliff "That's Jasper! He's Alive" I say as I run back to the cliff only to find it empty "He was right there, where is he?!" I cry as Clarke says "They took him"

The walk back to camp was more of a run, and as we near the drop ship I hear Atom shout "This is for my father!" "Drop it!" Wells shouts back "Wells! Let him go!" Clarke steps between them ending the fight as me and Tavi walk to a log "Octavia, Liza. Are you all right?" Bellamy runs over to us "Yeah." Tavi replies for us both, the pain from my leg and the shock of what happened taking over me "Where's the food?" He asks as he looks at out legs "We didn't make it to Mount Weather." Tavi murmurs somberly "What the hell happened out there?" Bellamy faces Clarke as she admits "We were attacked." "attacked? By what?" He questions as everyone begins to crowd us "Not what. Who. It turns out, when the last man from the ground died on the Ark, he wasn't the last Grounder." Finn speaks "It's true. Everything we thought we knew about the ground is wrong. There are people here, survivors. The good news is, that means we can survive. Radiation won't kill us." Clarke agrees "Yeah, the bad news is the Grounders will." Finn mutters as he walks over to check on my leg 

"Where's the kid with the goggles?" Bellamy asks with no regard for Jasper "Jasper, his name is Jasper and he was hit. They took him." I finally speak but its interrupted by Clarkes asking Wells "Where is your wristband" "Ask him." Wells replies pointing at murphy "How many?" She asks "Twenty-four and counting." Murphy smirks "You idiots. Life support on the Ark is failing. That's why they brought us down here. They need to know the ground is survivable again, and we need their help against whoever is out there. If you take off your wristbands, you're not just killing them. You're killing us!" Clarke shouts but her words are quickly overpowered by Bellamy's "We're stronger than you think. Don't listen to her. She's one of the privileged. If they come down, she'll have it good. How many of you can say the same? We can take care of ourselves. That wristband on your arm? It makes you a prisoner. We are not prisoners anymore! They say they'll forgive your crimes. I say you're not criminals! You're fighters, survivors! The Grounders should worry about us!" Everyone begins to chant "Yeah" and "That's right" Clarke walks over to where me Tavi and Finn sit "What do we do now" He asks "now we go after Jasper." She replies.

"Like hell I'm not. Jasper's my best friend." Monty says after Clarke said me and him have to stay "You're too important. You were raised on Farm Station and recruited by engineering." Clarke admits "So?" Monty looks at her waiting for her to continue "So food and communication. What's up here, it's gonna save us all. You figure out how to talk to the Ark and I'll bring Jasper back. Hey. You ready?" She says as she walks off to Finn I follow "I'm not going anywhere, and neither should any of you. That spear was thrown with pinpoint accuracy from 300 feet." Finn Urged Clarke "So what, we let Jasper die? That's not gonna happen. Spacewalker? What a joke. You think you're such an adventurer. You're really just a coward." I scoff at him "Look I cant go because of my leg, and Jasper he looked up to you in some weird way, and if this was you he'd be the first to sign up... think about that" I finish as I walk away to find Tavi. "What the hell was it?" Bellamy asks Tavi as he rebandages her wound "I don't know. The others said it looked like a giant snake." She replies "You could have been killed." "She would have been if Jasper didn't jump in to pull her out." Clarke interrupts as Tavi comes to stand by me "You guys leaving? I'm coming, too." But Bellamy immediately denies it "No, no. No way. Not again." "He's right. Your leg's just gonna slow us down." Clarke tells her the same thing she told me. Clarke and Bellamy come to an agreement that he and murphy would go with them to get Jasper, and before he leaves Bellamy find me and Tavi "Atom? My sister doesn't leave this camp. Is that clear?" He says as he points at Tavi "I don't need a babysitter." She groans "Anybody touches her, they answer to me." Bellamy ignores her "Let's go." Tavi says to me as Bellamy walks away "You're staying here." Atom orders "I'm gonna make your life a living hell." Tavi smirks at him as we walk to the dropship.
