Chapter Four - Betrayal And Confessions

Octavia's groans pull me out of my daze, "Hey Tavi, you okay?" I question as she sits up, she looks round the cave for a second before her eyes land on me, "Yeah... I think. You okay" She replies slowly "Yeah... I think" Footsteps make us gasp, Tavi shuffles over to me, grunting with every movement, as I burrow further into the wall. A grounder walks into the cave room, his body and face covered by fur coats and clothes, he's carrying a metal pole, the end of it lit up. "Please don't hurt us, please... No! No! AH" Tavi screams as he presses it on to her leg, cauterizing her wound, "Stop! Your hurting her!" I shout as she begins to pass out, her body falling into mine "Bilaik hurting em" My words come out uncertain, not sure if I said the words Will taught me right. The grounder snaps his head towards me, "beja, ai laik Liza kom Skai kru, nou bash op em" 'please, I'm Liza from sky crew, don't hurt her' I whimper as he walks away, leaving us.

My jacket covers Tavi's body as she lays against me, "Wake up Tavi... Please" I whisper as I stroke the hair out of her face, Octavia wakes with a gasp "Liza" She whimpers as she turns to me, "Hey, your okay. He cauterized your cut, so it doesn't get infected. Your okay" I calm her down, I watch her breathing slows and she looks at her leg, "How are you so calm" She whispers, her eyes meeting mine. I let out a breath before telling her about Will, from our first meeting, to the yellow fog and About Mal, who's probably worried I'm not back yet. "So, Mal is with him and you trust him" I nod a blush forming on my cheeks, "I don't think he's gonna hurt us, I just don't think he knows what to do with us." I admit honestly

"Mom, can I ask you something" The quiet voice of Liza breaks the duos silence, Katerina Kane turns to her daughter, her arms tightening around the small girl. "Sure baby" Katerina replies her voice quakes with weakness, "Your going to be okay right? You have to be okay." Liza questions as tears sting her eyes, Katerina pulls her daughter up along with her, the pair now sat up on the bed, "I don't know baby... But what I do know is that I'll always be here..." Katerina points to Liza's heart a soft smile on her face as she watches her twelve year old attempt to deal with these unknown emotions, "I'll always be there baby" Liza cuddles into her mother, her grip as tight as possible. "I love you mommy." Liza slurs as sleep overcomes her. "I love you more my little star" Katerina breathes, gazing the small bundle wrapped in her arms.

"Woah, Tavi what are you doing" I question as she struggles to stand, a gasp escapes her as she stands on her wounded leg, "I'm gonna find a way out" Her determined words come out pained as she walks towards the cave rooms exit. "Fucking hell..." I mutter as I watch her limp, "Just, be carful Tavi. Please" I can practically feel her roll her eyes as she continues on, "I'll be fine, you however wont be. Your ribs look like shit" Tavi gestures to my bruised and bloody skin, "The longer were here without supplies the worse that'll get. And considering your not planning on telling the grounder, I'm gonna go get us help" Her words become quiet as she walks further out the room.

A young Liza sneaks the Arm halls, crouching and hiding when she hears footsteps. Liza carries on like that until she reaches the medical ward, she slowly walks in listening out for anyone and once she's sure no one is there she breaks into the room that stores all medications and equipment. Liza walks to the shelves holding the bottles filled with tablets and pulls out her Mothers empty one, comparing the bottle to the rest she finally comes across the right one, Liza steps on a shelf grabbing the bottle before stuffing it in her hoodie. The small girl makes her way out the room, out the ward and back to her parents. She does all of this with a smile on her face, what she failed to notice was the footsteps that followed her out of the ward all the way back to her home.

"Yes! Liza, I found a way out!" Octavia's shout echo's through the cave after a long silence, Liza breaths a sigh of relief when she hears Octavia's joyous laugh. "Okay, just be careful!" Liza shouts back when she hears things thumping against the floor, "Yes mom!" Octavia's sarcastic shout causes a giggle to leave both girls. "Okay, just have to clime through this tiny tunnel, not like I have a fear of tight spaces or anything" Octavia speaks to herself as she climbs in. Liza hears Octavia as she climbs, not knowing what the other girl was doing, after a while silence overcomes the tunnel. Liza lets out a shaky breath as she attempts to move "Shit" A pain groan leaves her as her muscles and ribs protest against the movement, "Right, okay... Guess I'm waiting here" She mutters to herself as she ceases all movement.
